I’m reading “Innocent Sister” from Symphogear XDU since it has Serena finally playing a role
This is nice because I never really saw Serena have much of a character and her scenes have few too little
but after reading a few sections, I have a small summary ready hehe
1. Maria to Serena
Maria has been a vulnerable yet mature character but seeing her still beat herself up for Serena shows that she still feels bad for not saving her and she’s not worthy to see her again. Yet she still enjoys being with Serena and tries to be good to her as per her motherly nature.
2. Serena’s character
Serena’s character, although I haven’t finished the story, can be seen by how Maria remembers her. She was the one who faced the Nephilim. And she was the one who still fights in her world. This shows that she is courageous, especially in Maria’s view. I was proven right a few minutes later when I read Serena’s side until she met with the Gears. Despite the daunting task, she still stood against Nephilim because she knew that people were there for her, truly a courageous girl… for her age.
You see, Serena is young and as such for her age, she sees things in a naive light. She was always kept in the dark (even in the section I’m at, she doesn’t know about the parallel worlds NOR THAT SHE’S IN ONE yet) and almost blindly follows orders. In some (asian) cultures, this can be seen as a trait of a good child, but sadly it had costed her life in the main universe. Truly, despite her courage, she is truly an Innocent sister. *rolls credits
3. Contrast of the Cadenzavna Sisters
These sisters serve as strong contrasts to each other. Serena is courageous while Maria is “weak”. Maria is mature while Serena is naive. Serena is innocent while Maria has tainted her hands. But both view each other highly and they both try to fight hard for the other. Despite the differences, they love each other a lot and they fight with each other in mind.
I enjoyed analyzing Serena’s character and I cant wait to see more of this event. Symphogear’s events have some good characterization of the main characters of the event and I can’t wait to read more 🙏
