The coolest bookshop you’ve ever been to?

It’s closed now, but I loved the Trans-Allegheny Bookstore in Parkersburg, West Virginia. It was this huge old bookstore in what used to be a Carnegie Library, and it sold a mixture of new and used books (but mostly used). This blog post has some pictures of what it looked like when it was open.

It had 3 floors worth of books, with this cool spiral staircase separating two of the floors. Also, part of the floor on the second floor was made of these thick glass panels so you could see some of what was downstairs.

The owner also had two or three cats that would sleep on the books.

Anyways, me and my family used to stop there every time we drove up to visit our family because it was on our way. It was a hidden gem.
