T E M A Z C A L “Blew open my mind, now it’s an empty room.” Something I’ve wanted to do since Monsters of Folk came out with a song of the same name and it had me googling this Ancient Mexican sweat lodge medicine like crazy. For some reason I felt so called to it - I asked everyone I knew from Mexico about it for years. And today was the day. NOT easy but I am so glad I did it - for someone who usually feels claustrophobic- it was 100% mind over matter. What an incredible experience for each of us who walked in as strangers but now share a special bond. For those of you who know me know I’m not a crier but you can bet this old as time ceremony made me ugly sob - not because of the heat or the steam but because of the clarity I received at the third door of the practice (the one where you go inside and confront your darkness -yeesh!). I go into most things with high expectations and tend to leave somewhat disappointed but this, this was some real shit.
