[5:14 PM] “Are you still playing that video game?” You asked as you walked in the apartment front door.
Dongju frowned, not taking his eyes from the screen. “I’ve been stuck on this level for, like, two hours now. I’m going to finish it if it kills me.”
You snorted, kicking off your shoes and grabbing a bottle of tea from the fridge before wandering into the living room. You knew Dongju had a thing about completing things and finding good stopping points; you should have known your roommate would spend his day off like this if he got sucked into a video game.
“Scootch,” you said, nudging Dongju’s shoulder.
Instead of moving to not take up most of the loveseat, Dongju slid down and sat on the floor in front of it, instead. You laughed and stepped over him, settling directly behind him to watch.
“So what’s been tripping you up?” you asked, opening the tea and glancing at the fun fact in the bottle cap. “Also, apparently honey is one of the only foods that never goes bad, did you know?”
“I had no idea,” Dongju mumbled, button-mashing furiously. “It’s always this–one–boss–GAH.”
He dropped the controller and ran his fingers through his hair as his character died again.
You took a swig of tea and set it on the side table. “Pick up the controller, I can help.”
Dongju sighed, obeying reluctantly. You looped your arms over his shoulders and put your hands over his on the controller, nudging his fingers to hit the buttons you wanted.
“Hm.” You mused, setting your head on top of his. “You’re the perfect height for me to rest my chin on your head.”
“Just help me with this boss and I swear I’ll buy us as much takeout as you want tonight,” Dongju muttered, following your lead on the controller.
You grinned. “Ooh, can it be poké? I’ve really been feeling poké lately.”
“It can be whatever you want!” Dongju pleaded, and you got to business helping him dodge enemy attacks.
“You have to dodge and roll here, see?” You said as you guided Dongju’s character to do just that. “Because it always does a second attack just here, even if it’s not looped in with the first one.”
You dropped his hands and leaned back, victorious, as the level completed.
Dongju looked back at you, impressed. “How…?”
“I watch those ‘how to pass this level’ videos you refuse to watch,” you teased.
Dongju pouted. “Then this doesn’t count! I cheated!”
“It was cheating the second I helped you, and you didn’t have issues with that,” you laughed, ruffling his hair. “So. Poké?”
