The water was cold. It was always cold, but she’d long since gotten used to it. It didn’t feel so cold after spending months in it, the ocean safer than the dry floors of Rapture. Even if the Splicers would mostly leave her alone due to her pact with them, Aya didn’t feel safe within the city. She was, after all, more well fed in both food and ADAM than most splicers, mostly because she had direct access to the slugs that produced the valuable substance.
Every once and a while, though, she’d sneak in through a broken airlock, or cracked wall, and let herself dry out. It was easier now, since she had better control over her plasmid and she could breathe through the humidity in the air.
Arcadia was one of the few places Aya actually liked to visit. Perhaps it was the fact that there was grass under her feet instead of the cold metal floor, or perhaps it was the fact that it reminded her of home, but she could spend hours inside the area, nestled away in a tree or on a grassy plane, pretending that her life was normal again.
Her burlap sack slung over her shoulder was wriggling, squirming. The ADAM slugs never did like being put into a sack. But oh well - she didn’t much care what they thought. Only what they could bring her. There were a few splicers loitering around, and they grinned when they saw her. “Aaw, lookie lookie! Our favorite fishie brought us a tasty snack!” One laughed, hitting the others to get their attention.
“You all know the.... know the drill. Stay there, and I toss the slugs to you. But only after you give me your part of the deal.” Food, clean clothes. A hairbrush. Little things that meant the world down here.
But before the deal could be complete, before the splicers could even throw their bag to her, the ground shook and the splicers immediately looked scared. “Shit! It’s Sandman - scatter. Ain’t no ADAM worth dealin’ with him!” And before she could question them, they scattered, leaving her alone in the open field.
Shit. If they had the splicers scared, this Sandman was not someone she wanted to meet. But there wasn’t any exit holes near where she was - the best she could do was hide behind a tree and pray that this person didn’t splice. Because if they did? They’d definitely be able to smell the ADAM in the sack of slugs she carried.
Okay so this is waaay in the future of their friendship but for the headcanon meme: Crocodile eventually tells Chopper everything about his past, from his childhood to Ivankov to Whitebeard, and how he never really considered his parents (or anyone) to be family. When he finishes, Chopper doesn't say anything at first - he just hugs Crocodile's leg, before quietly saying something like "Well, I think you've been very brave, and I hope you can consider me to be family."

@xircrocodile;; closed (late) birthday thing.
“Mr Sandman, bring us, please, please, please-- Mr Sandman, bring me a dream!” His enthusiastic singing aside, HABIT was twirling a knife in his hand. “Ah shit yeah, that song should be played whenever you walk into a room, mister-man.” A smirk appears on his face, looking Croc over. “Don’t look at me like that, it’s a fuckin’ classic!” It takes everything in him to keep from laughing and even then he lets out a small chuckle. “Don’t be like that. I got you something.”
I'm too lazy to switch accounts so I'm sending this anonymously but - the mistletoe meme from xircrocodile ;D

On that Christmas night Crocodile announced that he would begin his plan to take Alabasta and for this reason he had decided to attend, even if only for a few minutes, in the great festival organized by the kingdom to establish his impression of benefactor and obviously the archaeologist would need to accompany him as an exemplary secretary, but eventually, the two of them parted in the middle of the crowd.
Bothered by loud music, the dark-haired woman decided to back off and lean against under a portal constructed of marble. With her eyes closed and her head tilted, Robin sighed tiredly of everything that she had experienced until that day and wished life were more complacent with her. Opening her eyes, sighted a little plant hanging from the portal arch and smiled. She knew what that meant and the fact that she was alone made her laugh. “Is that what it means to be complacent for you, life?”
A deep voice interrupted her thoughts, questioning her as if she were crazy for laughing and talking to herself. It was Crocodile who had found her and seemed to be slightly annoyed at her disappearance. Walking toward Robin, the man stood facing the black-haired woman far below the mistletoe hoping she would respond to anything but just receiving her smile. “I’m sorry, Sir.” On tiptoe, Nico Robin stretched her head touching her lips over his, stealing a small brief kiss.
“Is it possible that someone is listening to us out there?” Whispered still over his lips, more to her than to him, walked away slowly. With a smile of apology on her lips, Robin caught Crocodile’s chin forcing him to look at the little mistletoe over them.
Xircrocodile is such an inspiration!!! I could read Allie's writing for days and days; whenever she posts, it inspires me to write some great threads too!!
