i am only alive when i am bleeding. i only am aware of the quickness of my breath, of the oxygen filling my lungs and the blood pumping through my veins, the way my pupils expand or dilate depending on how much light they are exposed too, when i am bleeding. when my nerves send signals to my brain and vice versa, signaling the pain, the sting. this is true masochism. to be alive is to be a masochist. to be alive is to be a sadist. i only feel alive when i look at my neck and wonder how much it would hurt, if i tried digging this flimsy eyebrow razor into it. i am a god as much as i am a mortal. as we all are. but not everyone knows it. not everyone can feel the blood pumping, their bones settling, not everyone is aware of the acute feeling in your body when music plays with a certain level of bass or electric add-ins. but i can. i can feel my body. i dont recognize myself in the mirror, isnt that so funny. knowing you are in your own body, able to customize it to your liking and all you get is the vague, swelling feeling of discomfort, disappointment and dread. you are not you and i am not me no matter what our bodies tell us.
