Possibly controversial but I really did love Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse. Whether it was on purpose or not it created this sort of implied narrative that perhaps Warren’s powers manifesting went different here than it did in past iterations. Perhaps he wasn’t able to hide his wings and was kicked out. And what’s an angry, self-loathing kid to do but support himself by abusing the body that betrayed him and is the reason his life changed for the worse. Or maybe I’m just especially partial to him because he was so cute.

I have this headcanon that everyone just collectively knows/calls Warren as ‘Big Bird’ and so one day a lil baby mutant sees someone (Scott) calling Warren that and thinks they mean Big Bird from Sesame Street and goes up to them with a pouty face and says 'He’s not Big Bird, Big Bird’s yellow!’
