I won't exit without saving anymore either, even if it's a sim I really love. What's the point of asking for a more exciting/dramatic game and then ignoring the things the game throws at you. Poor John though, I was enjoying what you were doing with him

I made a rule for myself a while ago that I was going to stop having sims plead with the reaper and actually let sims die, but I admit I’m kind of bummed this happened so early, before I’d even finished John’s first round!
It’s definitely given me some story ideas, though. Also, the Contrarys all rolled some QUESTIONABLE wants when I loaded their house...

I heard FFS Lot debugger will help. You'll need and option Fix.../Invisible sims. I never tried this by myself though.
Ah, I’ve been wondering if the Batbox maybe had some trick that would help. I saw that option in the pie menu, but wasn’t sure what it did... I’ll definitely give it a shot!

This usually happens to me when I forget to press commit
Interesting, I didn’t know that! What’s funny is that after I realized that the sim’s skin was messed up, I lowkey tried to remember whether I actually pressed the Commit button or not myself... I know for sure that I hit ‘Safe’ (otherwise the sim wouldn’t have changed at all), but I can’t for the life of me remember if I did the same with ‘Commit’. I guess that must be it, then.

Try changing her looks a little with a mirror since that "refreshes" the Sim's looks, maybe that would help?
Already tried that, and it changed the eyes (since I replaced those too) but sadly not the skin. :(

I've had this happen before, more than once. Once I was unable to fix it. Second time, different sim and different skin, I made a clone and used Alt Sim Surgery to copy the whole thing rather than the skin tone alone and that worked. I've heard it's a legitimate glitch, as in a real, not imaginary glitch.
I’ve actually had it happen more than once, too, and it’s kind of driving me up a wall because before those two instances I’ve always been able to change sims’ skins no problem. Interestingly, both times when the glitch happened, it was a Young Adult in a college subhood. Were your sims that contracted the glitch YA as well? Maybe there’s a correlation... But you say that using SimSurgery fixed the problem? That’s good news, since I was planning to change the sim’s features anyway (I did some small tweaks to the extracted sim in Bodyshop and really liked how she ended up looking). l’ll have to try it out.
And a general reply to everyone: Thank you for the helpful input and suggestions! I got a lot of great advice that I plan to put to use. The general plan is to first try SimSurgery, then the mirror again (just in case), and if that doesn’t help, try the Batbox fix... And if none of the above yields any results...well, I guess I still have Alex’s suggestion as a last resort.
