Traxxas XO-1 – Is This Car for Us?
Traxxas XO-1 – Is This Car for Us?
I’ve just published a short review of the XO-1, an RC super car from Traxxas. This is an incredible car, no doubt about it. It is big and powerful and frighteningly fast. And that posed something of a problem for me. My goal here at WeekendRC is to help my visitors to find the right RC vehicle for you. As the name of the site implies, it is targeted at weekend radio control folks. I see you as…

Traxxas is one of most famous RC car manufacturer. the started in the late 1970s. And year after year they impress the word with best RC cars. The RC car come with best features available in today's RC like world Bold ProGraphx Painted Bodies, 100+mph Out of the box, Castle Mamba Monster Extreme Speed Control, Traxxas Big Block Brushless Motor, TQi 2.4GHz Radio System with Traxxas Link Wireless Module, Integrated speed, RPM, and voltage Telemetry System, Shock-Absorbing Cush Drive™Shaft-driven All Wheel Drive, Machined 6061 Aluminum C-Hubs, Steering Knuckles, Axle Carriers, and Shock TowersHard-anodized GTR Shocks, Steel Splined (SS) dual-CV Driveshafts and a lot of other features.
One amazed me the most is that an RTR and electrical car can reach 100 mph out of the box which is amazing. Also, this car is for on-road and it 1/7 scale
As an owner of this car, I did not think there is better and more excited RC car out there.

Handsome XOXO by FreeRangeCycles Via Flickr: FreeRange Build
XO-1 at the trailhead by Russ Via Flickr: Just took the new old Bridgestone for its first off-road ride. It handled the singletrack like a champ. I like this bike so much because it feels at home anywhere, doing anything Riding in cycling gear or commuting to work, Carrying groceries or touring gear, Riding on the mountain or on the road. It was the perfect bike for its time. Fast forward to 2010. Sean at Rawland Cycles is reproducing the Rawland Sogn, known as the rSogn. Check out his blog to see where the bike is going and add your two cents to make it your own "one-bike!" I believe it to be the direct descendant of the XO-1. So many manufacturers produce bikes that try to capture the "look" of the XO-1. That's not what was so important about the bike in my mind. The Rawland rSogn seems to capture the spirit of the XO-1. I can't wait for it to come to fruition! By the way, I am in no way associated with Sean or with Rawland Cycles. I believe he's making a truly remarkable frame and I'd like to see him sell a ton of bikes.
OLPC assistance from linux gurus
Thanks to a particular confluence of events, I've had an OLPC XO-1 for years and only sort of use it.
I loathe Sugar as a GUI, and I'm not hugely keen on Fedora (I'm a Mint/Ubuntu girl). I have a developer key, and just enough linux knowledge to be able to fix what I break, even if it does involve regular googling and cursing. All the forums for the OLPC seem to have died around 2012.
Is there any other linux build that's light enough for the XO-1 and still has support for 90%+ of the hardware? I've heard good things about TinyCore Linux on the XO-1, but is it stable/complete/useful?
Suggestions?
