Still, what good is there to come of dwelling on such things you cannot control? There is none, none at all. 

It is not until after she herself becomes lost ( in a reservoir of her own concerns ) that realisation settles in, suggesting that there was more to the senior’s sudden outburst “ May I ask what brought this up, sunbaenim ? Or was it just a fleeting thought ? ” Perhaps her tone was a little too familiar for a person of her status — but at the moment her concern lay in what hid behind her words.

A few small, seemingly casual words -- yet they held such an enormous meaning, once they fully settled in Jaejoong’s mind. He never really thought about such grand matters: what he was going to do with the rest of his life, whether the thing he was doing now will have been regretted in the future, or - as prompted - if he was happy, or happier, or not happy at all, at any given moment. Hearing someone state something like that, with such ease, especially after not being in touch with him for so long, was important. Big. Meaningful.

“Am I?” He asked casually, with a smile that seemed to match the so-called happiness of his nearly perfectly. Even though he may have looked as casual as ever in that moment, the unexpected revelation had more impact on him than it seemed; he was happy, he found with surprise. “Many things have changed--some for better, some for worse, but in the end, the outcome is positive. The older I get, the calmer and more stable my life becomes, it seems.”

“Magical?” There were many adjectives used to describe her personality splattered across the internet but this was the first time she recalled being called magical let alone by someone so renown. For the moment she thought, she should write down this moment in a diary later or type it down in her phone at that very second to cherish their meeting. But she kept those thoughts to herself, keeping her composure by placing her hands over her rosy cheeks and smiling with gratitude “Thank you, sunbae! Although I’ve never heard that before, I will take it to heart since it came from someone such as yourself”

Well, quite frankly, Jinhwan tilts his head as he continues down the street where they’ve landed during the quiet walk down. “You’re making a lot of people happy with that status, so where’s the rush?” He’s saying that with a smile, but really thinking it, where’s the rush? Even without that factor put in. Nowhere, if you asked him, there’s a time for everything. Whether it be getting somewhere in one’s career or personal life or romantic life, everything has its own timing. 

As humans we sometimes wish for things to get to work at a certain speed, even more if we’re surrounded by other people who live a life where we would have liked to fit in too at the same time as them. It’s one of the things that’s hard to not keep an eye on as an idol. What the friends we have around, who don’t live the same experiences do that are different from the ones we can’t have as idols. Normal relationships, getting married, getting kids, without the pressure of having to explain our choices to no one but our family and maybe friends.

holding up a hand, he immediately cuts her off. 

upon a more careful second thought, his gesture unveils itself as rather crude, jae eventually casting an amicable smile. “those are big words you’re usin’ there, be careful who you throw ‘em at to.” sweet and peppy, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of truth in her voice. with a low glance his eyes wander away, fingers instinctively moving up to touch the frames of his glasses, nervousness gradually building up in his system. spontaneous busking sessions are not unusual for the guitarist, jae often finding himself wandering through more secluded parks to catch his breath and push away the weight of his work. no talking, just him and his guitar under an oak tree and a few songs to help him clear his mind.

“i just didn’t expect someone to pass by. thanks! i mean, i didn’t want to come off like that, you just said that all of a sudden and i didn’t know how to react.”

long, dark hair frames her delicate face, his scrutinising eyes recognising a familiarity in her features, carrying semblance to someone he knows he has seen before. masked by a pair of black shades, it’s impossible at the moment for jae to connect the rampant pieces of information in his mind and figure out who the woman is. guilt. he has even used informal speech, and he doesn’t even know if she’s older or younger than him.

“just don’t start throwing coins at me. i ain’t no struggling artist. i’m just here to relax, is all.” after rubbing the nape of his neck, his eyes fall on the guitar silently resting on his lap, the sun casting patches of light over its wooden surface. brief silence. “sorry if i sound too straightforward, but the way you look, it’s as if you’re hidin’ and you don’t wanna be spotted by someone.”
