Xot - God of Spirits
Life has a beginning, a middle, and an end. All may come too suddenly but Xot will be there to guide you further in your journey.
When I was making a list of deities, I was wondering how I could introduce life into the fantasy world. Who created the humans or whatever races and species fill it? And at the same time, that then brought into questions on if there could be a deity that is essentially death? So I thought... why not both?
Xot’s design was primarily based on dragonflies! When I was thinking about spirits and such for this deity, I kept going back to the themes of how life seems to be rather fragile. It can be swift, fleeting and beautiful with infinite possibilities and tied it with dragonfly themes to create a fast agile yet delicate and powerful looking character.
The deer like horns was meant to be a symbolic representation of showing how life can branch into multiple directions. Xot glows a soft ethereal light and creates three main light orbs. The idea i was thinking was that he is a creator, protector and guide of souls. Guiding newly departed spirits into new domains represented by the light orbs so that they may find peace.

Xot was also part of my very first roleplay– part of a weyr of dragons that were kind of like the mafia. it’s gr8. Xot was only like 11 or 12 in the beginning but everyone was terrified of her because she got stuff done and snuck up on people silently and everyone was sure she’d assassinate them. Good times.
THIS gal is the cousin of one of the main characters in Flipside Tales, a story where roughly 5% of the world’s population randomly gets superpowers during what was called the “flip” which is when the sun fried a lot of important technology stuff. Anywho, she got a power, and she can turn back time exactly 24 hours– but only if she dies. She found out cause she got mugged in a back alley and then… restarted. Went back because, well, she had to be sure. Died again. Third time around she avoided going to that end of town and then went about her life. She thinks she’ll stop resetting time when she dies of natural causes rather than murder or freak accidents or jumping in front of a train to fix something that went horribly wrong that day. She hopes.
