I wasn't there to take his place, I was ten thousand miles away.
So when you hear my voice, And when you say my name, May it never give you pain.

Something Blue (part 11/15)
The songs are a part of the story. Because of that, please read it in AO3.
Summary: Now that Ziva is safe and can return to her family… Tony doesn’t waste any time. She’ll need to have something blue to go along with a white wedding gown.
She felt his hand grasping her drink to put it on the table, turning to face Tony already at her side.
“Come, sweet cheeks,” he said with a smile, taking her by the hand. “They’re playing our song.”
(there is just one thing I need)

He shook the snow out of his boots, kicking them on the wall a couple of times to let the ice crisps from it fall to the ground. They were left out in the hallway, and precariously so, for there was a little girl left alone inside the flat, and this little girl in particular was very much known to be up to no good, especially without him there.
“Tali,” his voice echoed at the empty hallway, a key turning into the lock as his bare hands shivered from the cold. He didn’t take any gloves, thinking this was going to be a quick business, but it was a decision he soon regretted, only because now his fingertips were numb to a non-feeling point.

@justkindaoverhereobsessing gave me the prompt “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Opera” and this was the result <3

His hair was dripping wet, but he managed to comb it away from his eyes and that was the best he could arrange with the minutes running by too quickly.
Tony tripped over the towel on the bathroom floor and was already on the bedroom when he turned on his feet to pick it up, recalling the number of complaints he'd receive from her if he didn't. He rushed to the bed, grabbing his black leather shoes on the way and glancing at his wrist to check the time.
They were running terribly late.
Ziva ended the call she was having on the other room and paraded in front of him to get to the mirror in order to put her pearl earrings in place.
"You look nice," he said.
She looked stunning, to be honest. The silk burgundy dress made the caramel undertone of her skin shine, and the way her curls were up in a messy updo put her slender neck curving to the long line down her spine on display.
"The kids are okay," she ignored him. "Your father said only Tali is up, but she's reading and will go to bed at nine."
"The Sorcerer's Stone."
"She's reading about a stone?"
"Well, in a way..." His voice died when she turned to him, gesturing with her chin for him to stand up.
Ziva placed the dark gray tie around his neck, making the knot with swift hands and a slight furrow in her brow. He watched her do it, and even after many occasions, his heart still managed to skip a beat. The first time that happened, she didn't even ask, it was as if this was the most natural thing in the world. From then on, Tony decided not to put a tie on his own never again.
"Do you have the tickets?"
A second passed.
She looked up, her eyes fixing on his. "Tony, do you have the tickets?" Her voice turned to steel in a second.
Every year they went to the Palais Garnier as a homage to Ziva's sister, Tali, and watched whatever opera was on. That year, it was his job to get the tickets and hers to get the kids to their grandpa, in order to have at least this date night in peace.
He closed his eyes, sighing deeply.
Ziva gripped his tie harder, her knuckles turning white.
"Anthony DiNozzo Junior, you had one job." Her tone was low but borderline dangerous. "Tell me how will we possibly get there on time to do the one thing you were supposed to do?"
He huffed out a breath, not even answering her because he just knew she wouldn't listen. Tony went to the living room, Ziva following him close behind with tight fists and red vision.
"I'm sorry," his voice trailed off.
"You know how important this is to me."
"Again, I'm sorry."
Ziva scoffed, throwing random things inside her purse as she stormed towards the front door.
"Now we will never get there on time," she said, turning the key on its lock. "We will never-"
Two shining tickets appeared in front of her vision, close enough for her to read the date and the hour of the show.
Ziva turned to him and Tony had the smuggest smile ever, his body leaning against the door and holding his suit over his shoulder. Her hands were still hovering above the lock when she chuckled.
"I hate you."
"Why? I'm lovely."
"Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge."
"Can I pick?"
Laughter danced in his eyes and she had to smile at how smug he was feeling. Only because he’d managed to have her fooled like that.
Ziva grabbed the tickets with a raise of her eyebrow and put them in her purse, opening the door.
"You do look beautiful," he said, laughing.
"Let's go."
