I don’t have any other romantic ships for Solas so it is literally the OTP.

I have a fair few, most involve pairing characters who uphold oppressive systems with Solas. Solas/any Evanuris tbh, even Mythal.

My biggest NOTP for Solas though has gotta be when Solavellan is done wrong. Like when Solas is turned into a sexual beast and Lavellan into a swooning maiden (and it’s always maiden, I never see this in mlm Solavellan). Dom!Solas usually rears his head here, discarding all his canon personality to suit what the writer or artist finds sexy. I think the reason sexual Solas interpretations so often bother me is because he isn’t just interested in sex, he basically turns into a hedonistic Dionysus figure when there’s 0 indication of him ever being like that in canon.

I saw Solavellan done dirty so many different ways before I unfollowed the Solas tag. I’m talking Lavellan hitting Solas after he breaks up with her (which is??? abusive? and bad???? and it’s treated as Lavellan being a Strong Woman ™ and not framed as a bad thing) and Lavellans joining Solas not to dissuade him from his path, but supporting him. Again, this is not framed as “Lavellan is doing a bad thing.” Lavellans who enable Solas’s destructive behaviour isn’t Good. Interesting to explore, I’m sure, it’s the acting like this is the result of a pure love that bothers me. Solas should not be enabled in that regard.

I could honestly go on for ages but it would turn into an essay and also I have to eat dinner.
