The Sounds of Silence

Not many people know that microphones are designed to hear specific frequency ranges. This flute may be a bit low for my phone. I've been complaining about shake making it difficult to type or play flute. I've made the change to my Xun as an ADA accommodation. You can see my fingers shaking over the tone holes when I open them.

《史記》稱塤樂是「德者之音」。塤 xūn/ㄒㄩㄣ是一種源於中國的吹奏樂器，距今有3000多年的歷史。其大小、顏色、紋飾、音域各異，部份塤的形狀與陶笛類似，但沒有陶笛的哨口，演奏者可轉動塤以改變音調。

It's a globular, vessel flute from China. It is one of the oldest musical instruments in China and has been in use for approximately seven thousand years. The xun was initially made of stone, baked clay, or bone, and later of clay or ceramic; sometimes the instrument is made with bamboo. It is the only surviving example of an earth (also called "clay") instrument from the traditional "eight-tone" (bayin) classifications of musical instruments (based on whether the instrument is made from metal, stone, silk, bamboo, gourd, earth, hide, or wood).
