AFFECTIONATE INTERACTION MEME ( from @talesspin )
[ hold ] – for your muse to hold my muse from violet
Penelope had a mother, of course, and Portia Featherington loved her children... in her way... but there were some things Penelope simply couldn’t say to her. Violet was so much easier to talk to. Violet never told her ‘I know’ or ‘It’s for the best’ when Penelope felt brokenhearted at the idea of spending her life alone. Violet assured that they had a standing ate for tea at least once a week. She was, in the end, more of the mama Penelope wanted, even needed, than Portia could be and that was why the young woman had briefly burst into tears as they talked over the disappointment Penelope felt with her life. Violet knew things about her that no other soul did. Not even Eloise who, not for lack of love for her friend, wouldn’t understand why these things hurt Pen as they did. After all, she didn’t want to marry. But Violet understood and didn’t judge her and when Penelope lost control of her carefully maintained mask of smiles the older woman was kind enough to embrace her like this, not letting go until the tearful spell had passed and Penelope was able to sniffle and stutter out a shaky ❝ I am truly so very sorry... I don’t know what came over me. ❞
RINA - EP 2017 WRITING PROMPTS. (from @storytelers)
“ i know what you did last night. “ from hyacinth!
❝ I... hmm? ❞ She most certainly didn’t. Did she?! Of all the Bridgertons, it was Eloise and Hyacinth who were the most likely to sniff out a mystery, relentless when they wished to know the answer. Hadn’t Hyacinth just been saying the other morning that she would find Whistledown and claim Lady Danbury’s offered prize money? None of them believed it was Cressida Twombley, but it couldn’t be possible that the youngest Bridgerton daughter had seen her sneaking into the cab to deliver her missive and somehow put the clues together, surely! Never mind the much more obvious glaringly simple answer that the family had heard already about Colin’s proposal last night. That didn’t even cross Penelope’s mind in the moment, still entirely unreal to her.

♥ - headcanon about love
Pen’s always been a great believer in love, having watched most of her close friends and/or surrogate family find it for themselves. She just hasn’t ever thought it would be possible for her to find. Even when she and Colin get engaged she is certain he doesn’t love her, but tell herself he likes her and that that is enough for her. There s a part of her that didn’t believe she deserved to be loved, that liked was the most she could ask for anyone. Her mother loved her “in her way” as she alwasy says in her internal narration, but also never believed anyone else wold come to care for her. It really took Lady D pushing her for Penelope to begin to love herself and then Colin’s love for her helped her along the path to feeling worthy. But she has so much love to give and showers it on everyone she cares for, Colin most of all.

✈ - headcanon about traveling
Truthfully, Penelope hasn’t done a great deal of traveling outside of the city and the ton. She’d like to see the world one day, however. Every time Colin comes back from one of his trips she’s read up about the place he’d been and peppers the poor boy with questions, not solely because she wants him to talk to her. She genuinely likes to hear about the world and lives a little vicariously through Colin’s adventures. The most she’s ever really traveled on her own is into the city proper to sneak off and drop emergency publications to her publishers at the church. Beyond that, she’s always stayed in her little bubble. At least until marrying Colin, who happily takes her on his wanderlust adventures then.

RINA - EP 2017 writing prompts. (accepting)
❝ Just driven... I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone more driven. ❞ Penelope’s tone is teasing though she means every word. Something about the Bridgerton women makes each of them single-minded in purpose, even when they might not wish to be.
Penelope’s gaze lifts from her book to land on Eloise, appraising even despite her smile. How much does she know? She has been taking this business of finding out Lady Whistledown quite seriously. ❝ Have you solved the riddle already, then? ❞
