I should write some more weird creature sex. It probably won't help me finish my WIPs, but you never know. It might!

I feel gelflings would talk the same language in heavy populate areas that started diversifying the farther you were moving from their center, like, vapra, spriton and stonewood sharing one but if you are in the center of Ha'rar, the colloquialisms on there would be like american english vs australian one (sifa would be like this from the start), while grottan/drenchen is more like spanish vs italian ideal when comparing other clans, some in common words and structure, nothing else there

yes this is actually exactly what i already had in mind!

here’s some of the stuff about language from the PANON notes doc i have:

the gelfling language family consists of uhh the main one (of which vapran, sifa, stonewood & spriton are considered dialects), drenchen, dousan, and grottan. these are for the most part mutually intelligable (tree incoming).

lots of podling loanwords/shared words especially among spriton & stonewoods

gelfling living in the major population centers of their clans, especially those of high rank, are usually at least partially fluent in vapran.

dreamfasting bridges any linguistic gaps as it is not directly verbal. dreamfasters will percieve others' speech in whatever language they're most comfortable with.

dousan have their own ritual language, unrelated to the conversational (which shares its root with all other gelfling languages). 

grottan resembles antiquated vapran, and includes some mystic loanwords. due to isolation, it's the most removed of the gelfling languages and is difficult to understand by most.

written language consists of the vapran letter-based script, with characters derived loosely from skeksis, as well as symbols used in dream-etching. most gelfling can only understand the latter.

Hey Mary, what's hadestown? I keep hearing about it but never really what it is

Hadestown is a concept album by modern folk artist Anaïs Mitchell. The concept is, basically, a musical of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, as set in an urban fantasy version of the dirty 30s. She got several of her friends and fellow musicians to perform with her on the album.

Hadestown is also, now, a musical based on the album, which Anaïs Mitchell helped develop, and which is going to be on Broadway in (if I’m not mistaken) 2018! A lot of the music is based on New Orleans jazz and blues. It’s a very good musical imo.

THIS IS DELIGHTFUL! Like even if you don’t do anything with it it’s really nice, but you could definitely also make a friend at minimum here, so that’s great too!

:D :D FOR SURE, and I hope so, and heck yes, having more queer friends is always good - plus, there’s the penguin huddle effect, where befriending 1 of us will typically put you in touch with 2-15 others, at least one of whom you probably already know. the discussions happening at that table were all the kinds of stuff my irl friends would be interested in, too. very nice.

top 5 foods that you know almost nobody likes but you love!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH. Oooooooh! Okay. So, I know different people have different tastes and there are some things I like that other people will, but not the majority of people? So I’m going to go with that. :D

Brussel sprouts! I know they smell like farts, and their texture is weird as frick, but I love them. Always have! They’re one of the few vegetables I never fussed over at any stage as a kid.

Mushrooms. Oh, god, I can eat mushrooms by the mountainful. It’s funny because I have so many texture issues but oh god give me a mushroom diced, sliced, or just fried whole, give me a plain mushroom, give me a stuffed mushroom, give me a mushroom mixed into a sauce, give me garlic mushrooms, just, MUSHROOMS.

Marzipan. Now, this comes with a disclaimer - I love it when I’m the one who made it. I’m so fussy with the sweetness and the shop bought stuff is just never right to me? And always tastes so artificial in comparison.

BUTTER PIES! Okay, these... these are not commonly found outside of Preston, where my mum’s from, and they sound in theory like they’d be terrible but I absolutely promise you they’re amazing. It’s carb heaven. It’s a pie that’s basically just pastry, potato, onion, butter, salt, and pepper. Like... that’s pretty much it. And it’s the actual best. It’s the perfect comfort food.

Hawaiian pizza. YES. I AM A PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA HEATHEN. And guess what? Are you ready for this? I like tuna pizza too. That is how much of a heathen I am.

Sandy fully intends to let the boy go - he’s not about to judge a teenager for being sloppy about their murders, and besides, in a couple of years those cheekbones will put Pitch’s own to shame, and he’d prefer not to stop the growth of something beautiful - but that doesn’t mean he can’t have a little fun with him first.

“What made you think, exactly, that you could take a short cut through my back yard unnoticed?” Sandy asks, pressing the blade of his scalpel flat against the boy’s jaw and stroking along it with care, determined not to draw blood unless forced to, “I think the Neighborhood Watch would take a dim view of your cargo.”

"Don't -" pale grey eyes squeezed shut, and Sandy tilted his head, watching the boy swallow, gathering courage, "Don't hurt him when he looks for me, please?"; it's barely above a whisper, but at this distance Sandy can hear every word, and he grins at how the night just went from interesting to exciting.

There’s a time and a place for first kisses, and Sandy’s fairly certain the resting room for Mrs Yates isn’t it, but he’s not about to complain.

The stranger thought is how this isn’t the first time anyone has tried to kiss him in a resting room, though it is the first time he hasn’t gently pushed them away; grief takes many different forms, sometimes causing others to seek comfort in him, but he’s professional enough not to encourage them to.

Pitch isn’t here for comfort though, he’s here to drop off a wreath that Sandy dearly hopes they haven’t crushed between themselves, and when he starts giggling against Pitch’s lips despite it being the first kiss they’ve ever shared, he’s glad that at least they both have a terrible sense of timing.

I’m starting to run out of joints now but here goes!

Okay so for yoooooou today I want to talk about the fact that while therapy told me that logically anger is not always bad for you, you’re the first person who made me truly understand how it’s not always bad for you. My aversion to feeling or expressing any kind of anger, plus the fact that as a side-effect of the autism thing my anger only tends to show up at a 1 (well that is mildly irritating, huff) or a 10 (I WILL RIP OUT YOUR THROAT WITH MY TEETH) on a sliding scale rather than any in between numbers, meant that I just couldn’t wrap my head around what it meant to experience other kinds of anger?

But our conversations about it have helped me grow so much as a person by helping me truly understand that it isn’t always about “Okay this person is angry I need to figure out the Sad Reason they are angry and fix that and then everything will be okay”, anger is as legitimate a feeling as any other emotion and sometimes it just needs to be expressed. And that is so awesome of you <3.

I would be so envious of your imagination and your talent if you didn’t put both to such good use! You’ve got such a unique, fun style, and I love so much the fact you can draw anything from traditionally pretty characters through to utterly grotesque horrors through to ethereal eldritch sprawling massive beings, and you handle all of them beautifully.
