this episode kinda has some interesting mega evolution-related stuff (forcibly mega evolving a pokémon via mind control, being able to override someone else’s mega evolution attempt if you have a stronger bond than them (but, isn’t that rough on the pokémon…?)) but it’s all kind of dampened by being an episode about stupid sycamore

Other then the ED stuff, the episode was okay. It was nice to learn about Sycamore’s history with Garchomp and some more Alan is always nice, but as always with TR driven conflicts I can only get so excited. Im sure everyone wanted Ash to get that Keystone but as expected he continues to be an observer to Mega Evolution and not a participant, which sadly is what im kinda expecting for him at this point.

I do appreciate the bit of foreshadowing at the end of the episode between Blaziken Mask and Sycamore indicating that there’s more in store for the masked vigilante down the line. It actually does remind me of DP where they’re doing all the story set up for the Evil Team arc early and then having it naturally reach a conclusion instead of just shoving it all in one arc. I REALLY hope this Flare plot line will work out because the set up for it has been pretty great so far. Just have the main cast meet some TF grunts or something and then you’re good.

Here in Italy we have a common saying that is Who goes to Rome loses the armchair (Chi va a Roma perde la poltrona), and it is used when someone goes away from the place where they should be (so ”goes to Rome”) and because of this loses something important they had there (the “armchair”)... In this case I’d say Who goes to Hoenn loses the Tree u.u

Stray Thoughts on Today's Episode

-Why is Sliggoo still in the opening? -So has Getta Ban Ban officially replaced Volt as the go to theme when something cool happens? No complaints there. -I really like the new ending, both the song and the visuals. -Enjoyed the episode overall. Seeing Sycamore and Garchomp's relationship was really nice. -Lubricantshipping is the most unfortunate ship name I've ever heard.

So, both of the Keystones belonged to Platane-Hakase, right? He kept his Gablias Mega Stone and Keystone to himself, right?

Nah, Platane only had one! He asked ~Mysterious Bursyamo Mask~ to lend him his KeyStone during the fight against Team Rocket, that’s why both Kojirô and him had one at some point, when trying to make Gaburias mega-evolve :3 Platane gave back the other KeyStone after the battle (and got his own KeyStone back), and smelled ~something familiar~ on it (so he knows about Limone, now, he went to see him at the end of the episode and to ask him to help his research). Carnet’s voice was just a short flashback at the beginning, when the kids heard about Mega Evolution. Platane thought about Alan when the kids were there but didn’t mention his existence to them + had flashbacks with Alan later, when getting worried over Gaburias (!!! IT WAS ALAN WHO BROUGHT THE WILD THING TO HIM!!!)So yeah, Platane kept his stones (Mega Stone + KeyStone) and, as usual, I think Satoshi himself showed 0 interest in Mega Evolution /o/ (Eureka was the most excited, I thiiiiiink)
