This is a pretty minor pet peeve in the grand scheme of things but for the love of god can people stop saying “Y2K” when they mean like… 2007

1997 could be considered Y2K era, 2007 absolutely isn’t, it’s not a synonym for the 00s, “Y2K era” literally means “year 2000 era”, as in the era surrounding the year 2000…

I want to bring y2k fashion back into my life.

But the messed up thing is that I have no idea how adults dressed in the late 90s-early 2000s. I know how I dressed, which was how a young lad in those days should have dressed: comically baggy jeans, short sleeve button up over sick t shirt combo OR my prized fubu jersey, and some skate shoes. Too cliche? Yes, but I was a kid at the time and i wanted to dress like all the other kids.

But I’m not a young lad anymore. So, idk how adults dressed in those days outside of celebrities. And we all know that celebrities aren’t real people that live in reality, so I wouldn’t take any sort of advice from them, fashion or otherwise.

So, I’m stuck. I know it’s weird that I lived through that era and have vivid memories of it, but I’ll be damned if I can’t remember what adults were wearing at the time.

The first “Got Milk?” advertisement was created by the ad agency Goodby & Silverstein Partners as a commercial that aired nationally in 1993. By 1995, the slogan had been licensed to the National Milk Processor Education Program, which began the massive print advertising campaign that became mainstream in the 2000s due to the inclusion of nearly every high profile celebrity of the era.

In 2014, the National Milk Processor Education Program ended the use of the slogan in favor of the new “Milk Life” slogan. The original slogan was revived by the group in 2020, although to much less recognition than the original campaign.

I’m going to keep y2k alive even if it means walking around wearing the tightest sleeveless shirt I can find to pair with the baggiest pants I can find.
