Even people I follow... people I searched out desperately because I thought I’d actually found the few sane people in the fandom... are sending in useless questions. Questions that have been asked to death. Questions that are passive-aggressive. Do you people want the cast and crew to feel welcome to this cesspool of fans, or are you trying to boo them off the motherfucking stage? I am really considering just unfollowing most of my Voltron blogs, because I’m getting a damn migraine from even their antics...
TREAT THE CREATORS OF THE SHOW WITH SOME RESPECT, PLEASE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THIS WILL BE THEIR FIRST TIME ON TUMBLR FOR MOST OF THEM.
THEY ARE TAKING TIME OUT OF THEIR LIVES, BOTH PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL, TO TALK TO YOU, BECAUSE THEY LOVE YOU. THEY LOVE THE FANS.
EVEN IF YOU PERSONALLY HATE THEM FOR WHATEVER GODDAMN REASON, RESPECT THAT THEY SHOWED UP FOR YOU.
If you’re going to promote a movie that allegedly condemns child exploitation (as many French viewers who have seen the film previously claim), maybe you shouldn’t advertise it with a poster showing a bunch of skimpily dressed 11-year-olds.
i mean--okay. let’s postulate a complicated exchange.
say there’s two human lady mages sitting around in the legerdemain lounge in dalaran, circa wrath - lady modera and angela dosantos. they have tea.
also, here’s rommath! this is a meeting, hence the tea. rommath, according to etiquette, has brought a snack--tangerines.
rommath doesn’t trust modera (because of the violet hold shit in TFT--remember that) and he’s wary of angela because he doesn’t know her too well and the brotherhood of light is OFFICIALLY argent but then there’s korfax and he likes to smash things. but he only likes to smash scourge things. oh, well. we’ll see how it goes. he states that he brought some tangerines that they might enjoy with the tea.
angela is reserved and hard to read by turns--like rommath himself. so there’s a mutual understanding there, but they’re both kind of going “...oh awkward silence, how i hate you~” behind the reservation. so she opens with small talk and tea. rommath responds amicably. angela can tell he’s being amicable. she’s happy about the tangerines, and that shows. so they’ve opened up to each other a bit, and she invites him to sit down )the invitation was unspoken, but a spoken one means “welcome”) and moves aorund in her chair to face him a bit more--not turning her back on modera, but having open body language toward rommath.
modera’s the more outgoing one here and she is unsure. modera, being less reserved but also from a different kinda culture, has no idea whether angela and rommath dislike one another on sight, and she tends to read hostility into rommath’s neutrality because she has lingering guilt and expects him to be angry (which he has a right to be, and she knows it, but part of her is defensive. when angela moves around she’s like “okay this is...probably going to go okay”, but she’s going to find talking to rommath VERY AWKWARD and be happy angela’s there as a go-between.
angela, incidentally, thinks the violet hold thing was bullshit and has been blunt about saying so in the past. it still annoys her that the kirin tor did that--that they fell so easily for divide-and-conquer tactics. (remember, angela was a guardian of atiesh--and dalaran would definitely teach its students about demons being drawn to magic users--so she knows this legion BS backward and forward.)
angela also has thoughts about alonsus chapel: “that was a fucking shitty thing to do, but i’m not very rational when i’m angry either.” she has thoughts about fel sustenance: “purtianical cringing notwithstanding--that cannot be healthy in the long run, but what else could they do?”
angela is pragmatic. so is rommath. modera is as well, so they have that corner to meet on.
how will the meeting go? probably okay. there’ll probably be some missteps where modera assumes rommath is crabbier than he is and goes on the defensive, which is likely to irritate rommath. angela is a really good mediator since she’s used to the bullheadedness matches between eligor and korfax! modera and rommath are more capable of being logical.
so there we go. i dunno if that proves anything but that’s how a meeting of those three might happen.
note that nobody is overtly a villain.
most villains don’t think they are.
there are exceptions--kil’jaeden comes to mind--but even HE isn’t as much about bwargh hargh hargh evulz as “fuck you i’m the best so i’m conquering your shit because might makes right”. it’s less evulz and more “lol your pantywaist clinging to morality, you noobs”. the scourge is similar - go to wowhead and read “the decree of the scourge” and blink a lot at KT!
some villains think they’re heroic - whitemane, mograine, vishas, dathrohan before balnazzar elbowed his soul aside and took over. they believe they’re saving azeroth--much like the conquistadors and all thought they were conquering in the name of god and with god’s approval.
people do shitty misguided things--there was a quest in vanilla/BC/wrath to go take out nathanos, and the quest text is...well, from my POV, it’s pretty fucking disgusting. but your questgiver really thinks that they’re sending you to save nate. your original questgiver was bolvar. bolvar is a very sweet man, but he was shatteringly ignorant in that case.
i dunno. i’m just like, why the fuck would rommath blame jaina for kael being weird in the *bleeegghh* game canon? people who write him as an unfeeling vulcan villain even make him do this, and if you’re writing him as dark spock or whatever...there is no way in hell he’d come to that as a logical conclusion. in a case like that, he’d be more likely to say “her best was not enough” and leave it be. his best wasn’t enough either. they both have regrets.
(incidentally--if the MoP theramore shit was absolutely necessary (NOTE: IT WASN’T), cold-logic-anger should have been the way they went with jaina. just this place of emotionless pragmatic comprehension of everything. “that sunreaver was disloyal to his order, he just wanted power.” “the blood elves are being backed into a corner as they were during the scourging; they will have to go home so no one can exploit them here in dalaran again, so i will evacuate them.” “yes, vareesa, your husband died. so did many of my loved ones. we are all grieving. i understand your pain, but you must take your revenge against garrosh and his cohorts and them alone, else you’ll be no better than him.” “the sunreavers? evil? hardly. surely you know that vulnerable people are easily manipulated.” “there will be no unnecessary collateral damage.” AHAHA I HATE THIS POINTLESS ARBITRARY SCENARIO AND IT MAKES ME ANGRY but snowheart!jaina makes a lot more sense to me. she has turned off her heart so i cannot be wounded; she will grieve when it is time. and goddamn it angry women are never fucking written this way. ToW Jaina is this manifestation of misogynist ladyrage tropery. she should have been cold.)
ANYFUCKINGWAY
i have no graceful conclusion to this because my sinuses are still being asses, so i’m gonna close it here and go take another shower and see if that helps.
