Why You Should Confess Your Feelings to the Person You Like a.k.a. So Much Wisdom from a Yahoo Ask
Throughout movies, TV and books you will always be told about the risk of opening your heart and possibly being hurt. It is the risk of being hurt that makes so many of us shy and withdrawn. The fear of feeling ashamed, embarrassed and rejected makes us never take the risk in the first place.
The problem with never taking the risk is that it means you will never experience the rewards. The closeness, the trust, the joy that comes with love. What you will end up experiencing is more and more regrets throughout your life the more and more you let opportunities slide by. I've always been too shy and afraid, and for a man it's a lot worse - since we're still almost-always expected to make the first move.
The very fact that you're still wondering what could have happened shows just how it can build up. Now imagine yourself in 10 years' time wondering about all twenty times you never said anything about your feelings.
The one thing to remember is that even if someone says no at least you know, and you can get over it soon enough. You never get over regrets.
