If I remember properly, which I doubt it was described as satire turned accidental propaganda.
Eh, I wouldn’t say so.
I mean, the last shot of the main plot is Neil Patrick Harris in an SS uniform shouting that their POW is ‘afraid’, to the cheering and exultation of the assembled ranks of soldiers. Which then cuts seamlessly into an in-universe propaganda reel/recruitment ad in which all the surviving main characters get a prominent place.
The satire is pretty clear, is what I mean.
To the extent that it’s propaganda, it’s mostly just that to properly tear something apart you need to reproduce it closely enough to show the appeal. Even if it means you have whole generations of people who think the Ride of the Valkyries scene from Apocalypse Now is badass and awesome without a trace of irony. Simple cost of doing business.
