DCLA QUESTION OF THE WEEK!

Imagine if the main character of a dcla show was someone entirely else… it could be a side character, someone who only showed up like 3 times each season, or even the main character’s best friend!

If you would switch the main character/s, which characters would you think would be the most interesting to have as a main instead? And how would the plot change?

This is a hard question because frankly speaking, I love Luna as the protagonist! But let's put our creative caps on...

I think any of the characters whom we didn't get to learn a lot about their home life would be fun to explore tbh. Simón is a top contender, but since he is one of the Core 4 I do feel like we still got to see a lot of him.

Honestly, I'd go with either both Jim and Yam, and do something a la Girl Meets World where they are both basically the main characters (even if only one is the titular character) or Ramiro as a protagonist. I think in either case the plot would change a lot, cause they would have different journeys and focus points than what we get on the actual show. So no Benson family plot, and such.

I think in Ramiro's case it would be fun to explore cause he's shown to be as passionate about skating as Luna. But he still only considered a career path in season 2. So with him it would be a show focused on finding your passion and gaining the confidence and determination to pursue it as a career.

With Jim and Yam, I'm definitely taking a lot of inspiration from GMW (may it rest in peace) and we could even do a moving countries plotline by making Jim be the new girl and move from Spain around high school instead of pre-show! She and Yam could immediately connect and the first season could also follow Jim adjusting to Argentina and Yam helping her navigate through this change of life (and one of them catching feelings, probably). The whole show would be a coming of age story about finding and accepting yourself and who you love. Also, Jim and Yam would be endgame, let's be real.

Those are my immediate thoughts at least!
