The first time you met him, it was orchestrated down to the second. The coffee shop was crowded, your friends chattering about mundane things as you calculated the perfect angle, the perfect timing. When you stood up, your shoulder brushed against his, and the steaming coffee in his hand tilted—just enough to spill onto his crisp white shirt.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry!" you gasped, reaching for your handkerchief before he could react.
His brows knitted in irritation, lips parting as if to reprimand you, but you were already pressing the soft cloth against his chest, dabbing away the stain with delicate, practiced strokes. Your fingers lingered longer than necessary, feeling the warmth of his body beneath the fabric. Your heartbeat quickened—not out of guilt, but from the thrill of touching him so intimately within minutes of meeting.
He exhaled sharply, eyes narrowing. "It's fine."
But you didn't stop, not yet. "Please, let me make it up to you," you insisted, tilting your head just right, voice honeyed with remorse and something else—something darker. "I can buy you another coffee?"
He studied you then, his annoyance melting into something more calculative. A smirk ghosted over his lips. "That won’t be necessary." He took your handkerchief from your grasp, fingers grazing yours as he folded it neatly. "But I’ll hold onto this. A little collateral, in case you owe me later."
Oh, he was good.
You returned to your table, heart pounding—not from nerves, but from the thrill of setting things into motion. Your friend Lucas raised an eyebrow, sipping his iced coffee. "That was… convenient."
"What was?" you asked innocently, stirring your drink.
"Come on," Lucas scoffed. "You’re usually so careful. And you just happened to spill coffee on one of the most well-dressed men in this place?" He smirked, leaning back. "Was he your type or something?"
You shrugged, feigning indifference. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Your other friend, Mia, giggled. "Well, he was ridiculously handsome. And rich, judging by that watch. I mean, if you’re going to bump into someone, might as well be a catch."
Lucas rolled his eyes. "You do realize he was totally onto you, right? He took your handkerchief like he’s keeping a receipt."
Your lips curled slightly. "Good."
The second time, you hadn’t expected to see him so soon, but you'd hoped. Your friend—a harmless pawn—had invited you to dinner at a high-end restaurant, and you'd chosen a table strategically. Back-to-back with him, close enough that you could hear the soft murmur of his voice. Close enough that he could hear yours.
And so, you spoke just a little louder than usual, laughing at your friend’s jokes, letting your voice drip with sweetness as you addressed Lucas by name. It worked. Halfway through your meal, you felt the weight of his gaze. When you turned your head slightly, you caught the way his fingers tapped against his glass, how his eyes darkened when he noticed the man across from you.
He hadn’t planned on running into you tonight. But now that you were here, now that you were seated so casually with another man, he found himself amused.
And irritated.
Lucas leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "You know he’s listening, right? He hasn’t touched his food since we sat down."
You feigned surprise. "Who?"
"The guy from the café. The one you so conveniently ‘bumped into.’" Lucas’s eyes flicked toward the table behind you. "He keeps glancing this way."
You twirled your wine glass between your fingers, suppressing a smile. "Does that bother you?"
Lucas scoffed. "I just don’t like the way he’s looking at you. Feels… possessive. Like he already knows something the rest of us don’t."
Interesting.
His phone buzzed, a reminder of an impending meeting, but he dismissed it. Instead, he swirled the wine in his glass, contemplating. He had wanted to take his time, let things unfold naturally, but seeing you so soon—so radiant, so close yet untouchable—he realized he wanted more control.
So he arranged it. The perfect excuse to bring you into his world, to bind you to him without raising suspicion.
The job posting appeared three days later, an opening for a personal assistant to the CEO. Not a secretary. Not an assistant manager. A position that would place you right next to him at all times.
And, as he'd expected, you applied.
The moment you stepped into his office, he leaned back in his chair, watching you with open amusement. "Imagine my surprise when I saw your name among the applicants."
You feigned innocence, your smile demure. "It’s a wonderful opportunity, Mr. Veltre."
Cassian Veltre.
His lips twitched. "Is it?" He gestured for you to sit, his gaze never leaving yours. "You seem… overqualified for the position."
"And yet, you're interviewing me."
A chuckle rumbled from his chest. "I suppose I am. Tell me, what made you apply?"
You folded your hands neatly on your lap, meeting his gaze with unwavering confidence. "I've always admired this company. I think working under someone as accomplished as you would be an invaluable experience."
He hummed, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Flattery? So soon? You’re not even hired yet."
You tilted your head, feigning surprise. "Flattery? I thought I was simply stating a fact."
His expression darkened, intrigued. "I see. And tell me… would you be willing to dedicate yourself fully to this job? It’s demanding. Requires constant presence. Close proximity."
You leaned forward slightly, mirroring his intensity. "I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t ready for that."
His grip on control tightened, his heartbeat a fraction faster.

Hey guys and welcome back to part four of this series, created in collaboration with the talented @deathmetalunicorn1! I know a lot of people have asked for this next segment in June, and it is finished after a lot of writing plus edits in two weeks!
We had originally wanted this to be the finale but after much consideration, it will not end here. When is another question.
The dresses described here are inspired by gala aesthetics from Pinterest, including Blake Lively’s gown from Met Gala 2012. If the clothes written in here aren’t your style, feel free to insert whatever is your preferred color and fashion/clothing style.
So that being said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the drama that will be unfolding in this episode :)

Part Three
Part Five
Ballroom Two, on the ground floor of the Sacred Crane Resort. It is here where Yeo Jung-Hwa will host tonight’s gala to celebrate the establishing of his family’s conglomerate. In accordance with the script of Love and Fortune, it is the last appearance of the despicable villainess Park Seo-yun. Your curtain call. The investors, the board members, and your family. The players are here. The stage is set. You just need to give it your all and hope, to whoever is listening, that Being X will let you go back to your world.
You had played the antagonist in Hyeung Mun-Hee’s life and did not annul the engagement with Yeo Jung-Hwa. Now, it is time to settle things once and for all in this fucked up place. In this episode, the male lead will ignore his fiancee’s pleas to accompany him at the gala in favor of Hyeung Mun-Hee. He would leave the office early and take her shopping to find a beautiful dress that would dazzle everyone, capturing their attention as they entered through the double doors of Ballroom Two in matching ensembles. A testament of their love and impeccable fashion sense. Park Seo-yun is furious at this insult and demands why he has brought the commoner to a black-and-white event that is meant for the upper echelon only. Hyeung Mun-Hee would stay silent, but Yeo Jung-Hwa would not.
He would turn to everyone, welcome them to this auspicious event and announce that he will dissolve the engagement between himself and the vile woman who dared to call herself his future wife, declaring that Hyeung Mun-Hee will become his wife instead. In her fury, Park Seo-yun would lunge at the female lead but not before security stepped in. They apprehended and walked her out to the entrance of the resort, her family following close behind. Because she acted like a wild animal in a public place filled with important guests, Park Seo-yun’s actions would lead to many setbacks for the Park family. These setbacks would force the patriarch to resign, make the conglomerate declare bankruptcy, and ensure that the family is never mentioned in Love and Fortune ever again.
Were you angry that Yeo Jung-Hwa would dare to pull this kind of shit? Absolutely. But just because you will be humiliated twice by this bastard does not mean you can leave the stage with a little style. You won’t attack Hyeung Mun-Hee and you will not cause a scene beyond grabbing a wine glass and pouring it over her head, ruining the pretty dress and her makeup that she did so meticulously to look her best for tonight’s event. Better yet, why not have the male lead suffer a big cleaning bill for trying to get the merlot stain off of his very expensive suit? Oh, what about whispering in his ear to treat his new bride properly and not tell her what she could and could not eat in a restaurant? So many possibilities.
Either way, the only one who would suffer in this scenario would you. The Park family name would remain untarnished. If anything, you will ask your father to remove your name from the family register and start a new life somewhere else, beyond the city. Maybe the countryside?
Your mind contemplated over where you could get a job and find a place throughout the entire ride to the resort, answering half-heartedly to your mother and father. Your brother had opted out of coming in favor of preparing for his exams next week. It’s a pity that this would be the last time you could savor the subtle warmth of these kind, generous people. Who could have thought that the female lead’s love for Yeo Jung-Hwa would break apart a family in the name of love?
Nonsense. You thought, staring out the window and watching the city lights flicker in the darkness, growing brighter and brighter as the family car went deeper into the downtown district. Complete and utter nonsense.
Yeo Jung-Hwa was growing anxious. Despite the countless hours spent on the phone with the event coordinator and his personal secretary that had all led up to this magnanimous gathering, Yeo Jung-Hwa was growing anxious because you had still not yet arrived. He’s already checked in with security and there hasn’t been any sight of you or the Park family pulling up to the resort’s main entrance. He has spoken with most of the guests by now, expertly weaving between potential investors and partners of his company with a smile and carefully crafted small talk.
By Monday morning he would have so many phone calls and emails to comb through, contracts to create and projects that would be in profit. The future was indeed looking dazzling for the Yeo conglomerate at this rate.
But his future isn’t complete without you, his sweet little darling.
He couldn’t believe he had been such a fool that night at the Lotus Pavilion. He wanted to repent for his past transgression, to make it up to you and show that he is remorseful of the words he said to you. Yet despite his best intentions and how he tried to speak to you at the office or sent countless text messages, you ignored him. You blocked his number and treated him with the icy profession he had once mistaken to be your true self; a black-hearted, unsavory woman who is not worthy to be married into the Yeo family. But people can change, and he has.
He now knows about you. The real you, the soft and cheerful self that hides behind closed doors because a young lady of such high pedigree could never be accepted by her peers for preferring to stay at home knitting or baking sweets than spending a day shopping to her hearts’ content or demanding her husband for attention when he was tired from a day at work. But not you. You would greet him with a smile as you relaxed on the couch, feet up and watching a baking competition before you stood up to give him a big hug or a kiss, welcoming him home.
If he was going to make this domestic homelife he’s envisioned for the two of you into something real, he will need to speak to you tonight. In private. Away from your father and the other guests, just a few moments to turn his fortune around and obtain the love he rightlyfully deserved. So where are you?
Yeo Jung-Hwa’s worries ceased when the sound of high-pitched giggling reached his ears, followed by the loud creakk of the ballroom doors opening, then loud gasps bouncing off the walls. He craned his head away from the couple he was talking to and faced the entrance, heart pounding before it plummeted into the pit of his stomach. It was her. Hyeung Mun-Hee. A sequined dark blue dress with black gloves that reached to her elbows hugged her lithe body. The sapphire necklace he had gifted to her in the early stages of their relationship sparkled under the lights above. She was dazzling, and walking towards him with pinkened cheeks. No. He thought, taking a step backwards. No, not here! Doesn’t she know that I no longer love her?! My heart belongs to Park Seo-yun! If her father, Park Eun, sees us together, then he’ll have no reason to keep the engagement!
And he wouldn’t. It did not seem like the old man would even want him anywhere near his daughter right now. Why? Well, Hyeung Mun-Hee hugged him right in the middle of adiscussion with an investor, Park Eun walked in with his wife’s hand tucked into his arm at that same moment. You followed right after them. You looked incredibly lovely in the form-fitting blush gown you had worn tonight. However, unlike the boldness of Hyeung Mun-Hee’s attire that screamed for everyone’s attention, yours provoked…nostalgia. A glamor from the early era of movie stars long since gone, and seemed to strike a cord with some of his older guests as they strode towards you and your family.
Their compliments quite flustered you. You had not expected any of it at all, and as you tried to appease everyone, you moved closer to your father. He seemed to have taken the hint and excused them, allowing the gathering to part like a wave to allow you and your parents to float around the ballroom with no further difficulty. Your mother must have seen some of her acquaintances amongst the guests, because she had kissed her husband’s cheek and yours before she drifted towards the other side, exchanging smiles and hugs.
He had brushed past Hyeung Mun-Hee and greeted Park Eun, welcoming him. Yeo Jung-Hwa only received a cool nod, and placed an arm around your shoulder, guiding you away from him and in the direction of the dessert table. In a single moment he was embarrassed, humiliated, and angry.
How dare he? Yeo Jung-Hwa thought, glancing over his shoulder at the Park patriarch. His hands clenched into tight, quivering fists at his sides. How dare he do this to me? I am the host of this event and his future son-in-law! I had not invited Hyeung Mun-Hee to this event, nor am I longer in a relationship with her! What more do I need to do to demonstrate my worthiness to marry his daughter?!
But Hyeung Mun-Hee did not know that she was not supposed to be here. She was talking to some wives who had accompanied their husbands tonight, giggling behind a gloved hand and holding up a wine glass that was half-empty. He gritted his teeth. He will not allow any drunken foolishness to ruin his evening further. Yeo Jung-Hwa was about to call for security to apprehend and escort the intruder out of the building when he saw something disturbing at the bar.
A man dressed to the nines and whose face Yeo Jung-Hwa had briefly recalled coming to tonight’s banquet by flashing a business card from a rival turned ally conglomerate ordered two drinks from the bored bartender. Once they were poured, the man glanced from left, then right, and pulled out a pill that immediately dissolved into the fizzy alcohol. Ice chilled his blood. No. No, this evening could not be getting any worse! He thought, weaving his way through the guests and his focus on the stranger. But it got worse. Because the man walked away from the bar, carrying both drinks towards the dessert table and handed the drugged glass to you. Your father was nowhere to be seen.
Never had Yeo Jung-Hwa walked so quickly behind someone and clapped them on the shoulder, forcing himself to smile as he addressed the man. “There you are, my good man! I was wondering where you had been hiding! I see you’ve met my fiancée.” He felt the bastard tense up. Good. He then turned to you.
“Please excuse me darling, I’ll be with you in a moment after I have a little chat with this gentleman.”
You stared at him, bewildered, then nodded. Over his shoulder, he saw you glance down at the wine glass for a moment before setting it on the corner of the table. One less thing to worry about. He thought in relief before he refocused his efforts on maintaining his composure as he walked his companion to the courtyard, closing the glass doors behind him. He turned his attention back to the pervert.
“What was the stuff you poured into my lover’s glass? A date-rape drug? A truth serum?” His eyes narrowed. “Poison?” He guessed. Nothing. The son of a bitch held his silence. So much for being a merciful host tonight to show that he has changed for the better. He pulled out his phone and dialed the number for his security team, maintaining eye contact until they arrived. He only had two of them summoned. No need to cause a panic. If anything, he could lie to the guests and say that this man is an uninvited guest and refused to leave.
He’ll have to contact his employees in the underworld to do a background check later, see if there is any connection to him and any of the guests here. He needed to find out why you were targeted.
Yeo Jung-Hwa sighed, pressing his index and pointer finger against the side of his head, trying very hard to stop a headache from emerging when he still had so much to do. He wanted to talk to you, even if it was just for a little while.
“Oh my precious daughter, is it really you?!”
He blinked at the sudden outburst from the center of the ballroom. Standing there was a flabbergasted Hyeung Mun-Hee being embraced by a couple who looked familiar. At least the short man did, in his designer suit and graying hair slicked back. His wife wore a dress that coordinated with her husband’s. Daughter? Yeo Jung-Hwa couldn’t make sense of the situation. Didn’t she tell him she had been adopted by a couple at the orphanage, and it’s because of them that she is working so hard?
He crept closer to the scene and tapped the shoulder of a gentleman who stood in front of him. “What is happening?” He whispered. The gentleman looked over his shoulder, and Yeo Jung-Hwa recognized him as Jang Dae-hyun, a partner from the company.
“Ah, Mr. Yeo! Mr. and Mrs. Choi claim that Miss Hyeung is their daughter who had gone missing on a family trip to a theme park many years ago! Truly, this is a night of blessings!” Mr. Jang smiled. Yeo Jung-Hwa returned it wholeheartedly, or at least he thought he did.
“What’s with all the crocodile tears?” A young, scruffy man piped up with a raised brow. “This isn’t a reunion. She is your daughter, there’s no question about that, but the three of you were all at the fundraiser my father hosted last week. Don’t you remember?” He stepped forward, spiky brown hair bouncing off the lights. “Mr. Choi, you tried to outbid Mr. Yoon on Lot Number 664 and then made a complaint that he didn’t have enough money to purchase a vintage car when all he’s collected are motorcycles. Mrs. Choi, you tried to calm him down, and you,” He turned his attention to Hyeung Mun-Hee. “I tried to talk to you because I was worried why you never showed up for our marriage interview, but you brushed me off and said you found someone else. Am I assuming that the person in question is a man who is already engaged to a beautiful woman, Yeo Jung-Hwa?” His hazel eyes narrowed.
“Well? Will you answer me truthfully, Mr. and Mrs. Choi? Hyeung Mun-Hee? Or…should I address you by your true name, Choi Mi-Rae?” He crossed his arms over his chest. “I almost didn’t recognize you. You changed a lot. But I guess a crash diet, more designer clothes, and a haircut can transform someone into a different person.” He frowned. “You were a lot nicer before you became this.” He waved his hand up and down, a look of disgust and disappointment flashing across his face.
Hyeung Mun-Hee trembled. “You…How dare you say that name?!”
“What? Isn’t that your real -”
“HOW CAN YOU EVEN WANT TO MEET A WOMAN LIKE THAT?” Hyeung Mun-Hee shrieked, pointing a gloved finger at him. “THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE WOULD WANT A FAT PIG FOR A WIFE, NOT WHEN BEAUTY AND STATUS ARE EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD! YOU MIGHT BE THE YOUNGEST SON OF THE MYEONG CONGLOMERATE, BUT YOU WERE NEVER MY TYPE, MYEONG GA-EUL!”
The heartfelt atmosphere changed into an awkward silence at the woman’s words, her chest heaving up and down in anger as she glaring heatedly at Myeong Ga-Eul. It wasn’t until the guests whispered among themselves that she realized the consequences of her actions. With a pale face and slightly parted mouth, Hyeung Mun-Hee or whoever she is rushed towards him, coiling her arms around his middle. She half-buried her face against his chest, hazel eyes brimming with unshed tears and every inch of her body pressed against his.
“Yeo Jung-Hwa, it isn’t what you think! I truly love you! We are meant to be together, standing on the pinnacle of high society! Nothing can keep us apart, not even that vile tramp Park Seo-yun!”
In another life, those words were supposed to be a declaration of love. They would have hardened his resolve to break off the engagement with the villainess and move forward in a world of perpetual darkness. But now? They were the final nails of the coffin he had inadvertently created for himself. All because of this beautiful, foolish girl who played him like a fiddle for a fortune she desired above everything, and everyone else.
In a single moment, any hope of repairing his relationship with you had crumbled to dust.
Monday morning came barreling through Yeo Jung-Hwa’s office before he had even realized that yes, today is indeed the start of a new work week. Yes, the foundation gala ended in a complete disaster. And if that wasn’t bad enough, everyone from clients, employees, and board members have found reasons to suddenly sever ties with the conglomerate. Second thoughts on where to invest for the future. Another job opportunity presented itself to them. It was time to retire and enjoy the Busan beaches.
The company effectively terminated Hyeung Mun-Hee, no, Choi Mi-Rae, as of Friday evening. He has ignored her text messages and phone calls in favor of trying to reach you, but to no avail. Then again, could he blame you? Everyone knows about his affair, and as his fiancée, your own reputation has suffered. High society would mock, jeer, and shun you because of his actions.
In hindsight, wasn’t this a satisfactory conclusion? He wanted you to be a stay-at-home parent, never to work another day in your life again and let no one else know how beautiful and intelligent you are.
Yeo Jung-Hwa shook his head. No. No, that isn’t right to think about it. He needed to go through his emails, ask his secretary to arrange an emergency meeting with the remaining board members about initiating an incentive pay plan for the employees, and talk to PR on how to best to strategize his next moves. The last thing he wanted to do was cause even more damage to both his reputation and the company by being reckless.
At lunchtime, his secretary stuttered over the phone that the former leader of the conglomerate was on line one and wished to speak to him. Puzzled, and a little worried why his father of all people is contacting him during work hours, Yeo Jung-Hwa answered it. “Hello?”
“Yeo Jung-Hwa, what is the meaning of this?!” Yeo Jeon roared on the other end. “I had entrusted our family legacy and my friend’s daughter into your care, believing that you were ready to do your duty as a son and a husband! Imagine my surprise when Park Eun came to our door and announced that it would be in our best interest to dissolve the engagement in light of this affair you’ve had with a commoner! Or a conwoman who made you believe she was the one for you, and you fell right into her honeytrap! I raised you to be better than this! I told you there would be people like her in this world, and you had failed. You are a disappointment, Yeo Jung-Hwa. A disappointment!” His father then inhaled a deep breath, exhaling it slowly before he continued. “Given the current circumstances, I have agreed to Park Eun’s terms of dissolving the engagement. We will compensate Park Seo-yun for the time she had spent as an employee of this company, including any emotional or physical distress you have caused with this tryst. You will not contact Park Seo-yun ever again, and if by the gods you had gotten Choi Mi-Rae pregnant, you will take responsibility. Jung-Hwa? Yeo Jung-Hwa, are you listening to me?”
He couldn’t hear anything with the ringing in his ears, the shock vibrating deep in his bones.
They annulled the engagement. His father’s displeasure was evident, and he could swear that his mother was sobbing in the background. He would never see you again. No, no, no! He didn’t want to be separated from you! He still had to apologize to you for what he had done!
It’s been two days since the engagement between you and the male lead had been called off. You did not receive any notifications on the app about Being X’s thoughts on the changes in the script. No congratulations, congratulations, congratulations! Important things must be said three times. No sarcastic message on having better luck in the next loop before finding yourself standing on the set of the first episode again. Nothing except peace in the Park family home as you and your father sat on the couch while your mother was making lunch in the kitchen.
Now that there weren’t any lingering connections to Yeo Jung-Hwa or his conglomerate, there was no reason for you to keep working under that man’s payroll. Why should you, when you can come work for the family business? Park Eun’s words, not yours thank you very much. Without even allowing you to put in a two week notice, he settled with a resignation letter and another one emailed out to your team, wishing them good luck in their endeavors and how it was a privilege to have worked with them.
Your father has already organized for you to participate in the new employee orientation next month, so all you had to do was browse through countless documents on potential suitors who might make an excellent addition to the Park family.
Although you had wanted to wait a little bit longer before even trying to date again, the role of a glamorous and high profile villainess does come with a downside; being sneered at for not noticing your ex-fiancé’s affair soon or allowing it to happen in the first place, and the high expectations of your would-be husband. Arranged marriages had the lowest percentage of divorces in the drama world, if done right. Your relationship had been doomed from the start. How in the world would you be able to find the right person while also weighing their contributions to the conglomerate, social connections, even financial and criminal history background checks? Would their conglomerate benefit the family in any way?
You were about to pick up another folder from the to be read pile when you suddenly felt a weight rest on the crown of your head. Blinking, you glanced to your right and raised a brow at the tired, almost sorrowful expression on Park Eun’s face.
“Um, Dad? Is everything okay? Do you want to take a break?” You asked. “Maybe have something sweet? Caretaker Lee made some dasik cookies the other day that would go great with some green tea.” You placed the file back down on the coffee table, patting him on the knee as you smiled at him. “Sit tight, let me see if I can get them -”
“I’m sorry, Seo-yun.”
“Huh?” You almost jumped a foot in the air when a large hand covered the one you had placed on his knee, giving it a squeeze. “Dad? Are you -”
“I’m sorry that things turned out the way they did.” He blurted out. “When I agreed to arrange this marriage with Yeo Jeon, I thought that his son would be like him. Honorable, kind, faithful, and knew how to look after the people under his employment. But while Yeo Jung-Hwa has brought great fortune and honor to the family after he became the head of the conglomerate, he is still a boy. Not a man whom I would entrust the happiness of my only daughter with.” He sighed. “You must still marry, but this time, there will be no rush. Decide who you wish to be with, on your own terms. All I ask is that you are certain he is the one you want by your side through the good times, and the bad.”
Your eyes widened. The drama primarily focused on the love blossoming between the two leads, leaving Park Eun’s personal life undisclosed. From the previous loops, you have learned that he is a man of honor and loves his wife very much, despite their own relationship being arranged since they were teenagers.
Uncontainable joy flooded your heart upon hearing his words, as tears of happiness welled up in your eyes despite your attempts to hold them back. Heart hammering, mind jittery, you released a hoarse laugh before you pulled your hand away from his, and coiled your arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a tight embrace.
“Thank you.” You whispered in his ear. “Thank you so much.” You felt the vibrations of his own chuckle in your ear as a hand came behind and caressed the back of your head, his fingers running through your hair.
“But don’t wait too long~.” Park Myung-Ok chirped from the kitchen with a mischievous smile that would put the Cheshire grin to shame. “I want some grandchildren!”
“Mother!” You squeaked, feeling heat rise into your face, your neck, and everywhere else where your flesh was visible to these wonderful, loving characters. Or was it too much of a stretch to acknowledge them…as people now?
“A package just arrived, ma’am!” Caretaker Lee announced as she strode into the living room, cradling a large crimson box in her hands. “And it came with flowers! It appears to be a gift for the young miss! Could she already have a suitor ready to sweep off her feet?!” She exclaimed in excitement.
Except that you haven’t left the house since quitting the conglomerate and you weren’t active on the upper echelon dating apps yet. Hell, the person in question put the arrangements to meet a matchmaker on hold because they were trying to find a match for someone known to be high-maintenance and short-tempered in social circles, so handling her is already a full-time job. So who in the world would send you a gift?
“Caretaker Lee, would you mind placing it on the kitchen island?” You asked. She nodded, following your command as you stood up from the couch and walked over. Your father was close behind, while your mother turned down the heat on the stove so that she too could take a peek. There wasn’t a card attached to the bouquet of white tulips tied in a ribbon that matched the box. They smelled nice, so you guessed that counted for something. You set them aside, undid the black ribbon around the box, and lifted the lid.
Your mother screamed, a hand covering her mouth. Caretaker Lee’s face turned white, and she couldn’t utter a word as she slid onto the floor, bright blue eyes wide and teary. She couldn’t find any strength in her legs to move. But who could blame her?
Your father was beside himself with fury, veins throbbing on the side of his neck and his hands clenched into fists by his sides.
You stood frozen in place, stunned and almost mesmerized by the visceral horror lying in two separate styrofoam compartments. On the left was a heart. A human heart, perfectly preserved without a trace of blood to be seen. The stump where the finger on the right had been cut off had blood seeping from it. Wrapped around it was a delicate, silver band with a large sapphire and little diamonds decorating the edges. It was a ring. A gaudy, expensive ring Choi Mi-Rae had bragged about at the office during episode 30.
It was the first gift Yeo Jung-Hwa ever gave her. And now, it was supposed to be your gift from him.

-Obviously, you can use all his money. And not only in the classic “I can get you everything you want babygurlll”, but also because he genuinely doesn’t do anything with it. Except for necessities and business stuff, it is literally just sitting there. You are at least giving it a purpose.
-One of his love language is giving gifts, but not because it is “easy” for him. He loves seing that joy in your face when you receive one, it warms his heart. He always takes great care of choosing one he thinks you would like.
-Dates range from just chilling and watching a film to boarding a plane to check out pandas. It depends on his mood (and of course what you feeling like doing too).
-Extremely picky with his food. It doesn’t mean 5 stars meals each time (tho he can afford it), more like if he doesn’t have interest in it, he would rather not eat it. So he always takes you out to try new food and he gives you his plate when he doesn’t fancy it hehe.
-Post-gym and post-shower selfies are a must from him. You think he is working out only for health purposes? His physique is too good to not flex from time to time. You have a whole folder of those on your phone.
-Having you doing your own stuffs/just chilling beside him motivates him a lot to complete his boring paperwork.
-Yes he is rich, but he has 0 fashion senses. You get to dress him like a doll with his huge selection of clothes, all high fashion that he tasked employees to get for him.
who else wants a yandere teen ceo who fell for us from a interview they watched and we spilled our drink on the interviewer making the ceo laugh
I’ll ignore the ‘teen’ you threw in there because that doesn’t need to be applied here. But I do like the concept overall!
Just this over-confident, hardworking but constantly scowling CEO, who sneers at his underlings for poor performance and never seems to have a good day, of some big-name company that you applied to on a whim, absolutely falling head over heels for you after seeing the awful performance you put down in the interview. His secretary has never heard him laugh before, scaring her to the bone as she hears it ring out clearly, wondering which poor person is currently getting a new butthole torn by the CEO that he can laugh about them so much.
In reality, it's just you, on his little tablet, looking like you've just seen a ghost as you try to dry off the table and the interviewer who gets more and more agitated. He's been watching the interviews simply because he doesn't like and can't trust his HR representative to actually pick good fits for the company, and your performance was only pretty mediocre as well. However, seeing you make a fool of the rep is just too amusing to not be to his liking. You are truly delightful, perfectly imperfect, precisely what he needs by his side to balance him out. With his guidance, you could become the horror of all the employees he doesn't like, bringing dread and fear to their faces as you deliver the CEO's messages and maybe some more cups of water to splash them with. You are hired on the spot, he decides, as he sees you shake hands with the angry representative before hurrying out of the door, keeping your head low.
Rushing by his secretary, who follows quickly, he takes the elevator down to the lobby to catch you before you can leave, and you are even more amusing in real life to him. Every other employee is wary of their CEO smiling, but you just seem completely scared of him as he approaches, thinking he might be security or another important figure wanting to sneer at you. Your reactions are funny because the CEO already decided that from that day on, he will be your best friend. Throwing some unimportant documents your way, he tells you to come with him right away, ditching his secretary for you and taking you to brunch in his over-prized, leather-seat car that you couldn't even buy if you were employed in his company.
To you, it must look like a big misunderstanding, and you try to tell him politely that you were underqualified anyway as he keeps shoving fancy dishes your way while he drinks his coffee. The CEO just lets you talk. You're the first person in a long time whose voice doesn't annoy him and the first one he's been out on a date like this in years (even if it's one-sided). He doesn't comment, doesn't grunt your way as you try to figure out how to pay your portion of the bill since you couldn't resist trying at least some of the food. Until you get really quiet, sad, and depressed of fluking another interview and not being able to afford anything nice in your life like this brunch is. Perhaps the CEO just takes pity on you, no matter how strange the situation is, but nothing will really change for you going forward.
But instead of letting you wallow in your sadness, he merely pays for the food with his very shiny card before throwing it at you. "I expect you at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning in my office. Buy yourself some clothes and bring coffee. Secretaries don't need qualifications."
Saying this, he strolls out of the cafe, satisfied with himself and feeling splendid. He's off to fire his old secretary and make room for you to always be by his side from now on. You are left behind with more food than you can eat, a golden credit card, and a new job lined up, absolutely shocked with how your life is turning out. But, it's all too good to be true since you don't know who you're dealing with yet.
Given, the pay is terrific, even though your new boss wants you to stay in the office with him from morning till night. He has you follow him everywhere, do his errands, and minimal amounts of work fit for your position. But every one of your minor complaints about life is solved. There's a new apartment in your name, paid and the keys in your hand, he takes care of your debts, makes sure you eat out with him every day, get your own company car, and if he catches you staring at something while being out in the city, he has it shipped to your home. It's a dream come true!
However, that money isn't everything is something you have to learn the hard way, especially when it becomes way too much for you to handle. Your boss starts picking your outfits for you, sending you gifts that he "would like to see on you", comes over to your home with his spare keys just to "make some coffee" when he's lonely, and even makes plans for you to go out with him on your rare off days.
Sometimes he calls you into his office just to look at you. He makes you stand in front of him or give him your hand to hold, and you question it but aren't really in the position to refuse. Is this sexual harassment, you wonder as he asks you to come around his table to look at the documents he is working on, his eyes focused on you instead and his hand barely wandering to admire the clothes he picked and the fit they have on you. Admittedly, you heard people whispering about you two already. Still, you've been trying to brush it off, thinking he couldn't see you as anything else but an employee.
That is until he tries to advance the relationship to something much more intimate. You really wanted to believe you two were just co-workers, but it's clear from the moment he finally kisses you, unable to let go of your lips while he pulls you tightly against his chest, that your boss doesn't feel the same. He's ecstatic to finally let go of dumb restraints, believing that you must be feeling like he does after all he did for you. The CEO is ready to advance all of this even faster, preferable in your bedroom that he paid for to be furnished, and perhaps the wedding the next day. But to you, it's finally the time you see all the red flags rising higher and higher. You storm out of your own home just to get away from him, but he checks which hotel you are booking in, tracking your car, phone, credit card. After all, he gave those to you. And through them, he can follow you everywhere you go.
You want to leave; you really do. Had you known these are his true intentions, you'd never have started at this job. Even if you were poor before, you still had some pride in yourself and your skills, never having accepted a position that was so far off just because your boss seemed to mistake you for someone who will get into bed with anyone who pays them well. But when you open the door for 'room service,' it's your boss, easily overpowering you as you try to slam the door in his face. Instead, he slips into your room, taking a moment to admire his adorable, sweet darling fresh out of the shower before giving you an envelope and sitting down on your bed to wait for you to get dressed and have a look.
You were so stupid to just follow orders, signing papers that show you've been embezzling money and spilling company secrets to 'rival firms'. After all, you were underqualified, you didn't know what to do, and your boss was strict on you signing these papers. He's been setting you up for the possibility of you rejecting him. Everyone always did. So he decided that for once, he'd get what he wanted, no matter what he needed to do. With these fake pieces of evidence, he could sue you and multiple generations after you into financial ruin. You had to gulp at that, close to tears already as you finally read through the documents you stupidly signed on his urging.
What choices do you have? Do you want to fight this pointless battle? Or do you just accept the hand he holds out to you, pulling you onto his lap where he holds you, finally happy now that he quite literally owns you? Let him tell you that he'll treat you just as well, maybe even better from now on, that you two will live a life others could only be envious about? Your boss assures you that everything will be okay as long as you keep being his sweet little secretary, listening to his every order, and following his guidance as you always did. But your job description might change again in the future, you realize, as he holds out hundreds of thousands of dollars worth in diamonds set into a ring for you.

Hey guys and welcome back to part three of this series, created in collaboration with the talented @deathmetalunicorn1! I know a lot of people have asked for this next segment, and it is finished after a lot of edits and two rough drafts back-to-back!
Just so everyone knows, I am going to be focused on another project starting in June, so please be patient in the meantime and do not flood my inbox with requests or asks as to when the finale of this series will be posted.
Now that this little announcement is out of the way, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show :)
Part One
Part Two
Part Four
You could not wait to have your first sip of caffeinated bliss since seven o’clock this morning when you left for the office. The presentation was almost finished, all it needed were a few more checks on some references after a much-needed lunch break. The catering company had texted you that the foodstuff had already been delivered to your department as soon as you walked inside the coffee shop. You were about to send a review for their business when a notification on another app popped it. The purple app with a clapperboard icon that only you could see because it was directly connected to Being X. This was how you received the viewer ratings for each episode so far. But…why were the results for this episode already in? Shouldn’t it have happened until later?
Swallowing the lump in your throat, your shaking pointer finger tapped it. A creme-colored screen appeared with the words congratulations, congratulations, congratulations written in bold cursive lettering. Beneath it were numbers. Stats about the ratings.
You quickly scanned them, seeing that today’s episodes had exceeded the requirements to move forward with the next segment and not a reset with negative comments from the audience or a sarcastic message from Being X to have better luck next time on the fifth loop and a smiling emoji at the end. But why and how did this even happen when you just arrived on the set?
“YEO JUNG-HWA, HOW COULD TALK TO ME LIKE THAT?! YOU’RE EMBARRASSING ME!”
Ah. You would recognize that voice anywhere. Hyeung Mun-Hee. Of course she is having a clandestine with the male lead instead of answering her phone to come into work and help out with the project after her lover pushed the deadline to Monday morning instead of next month. But raising her voice in public, and from what it sounds like, she’s actually arguing with him? Well seeing the two main actors in this drama world having a spat when their chemistry is supposed to be flawless and the epitome of true love would rank in high ratings. If they saw the villainess catching her fiance in the act of seeing another woman behind her back and pouring hot coffee over the female lead’s head, the act wouldn’t reap even half of these glowing online comments that keep popping up every few minutes.
“I have an order for Park ready?”
The universe is smiling down on you today.
You thanked the barista profusely as he carefully handed you one of the coffee holders, asking if you’d like help with carrying everything to your car. You gladly took up on his offer, secretly slipping a tip into his hand afterwards before heading back to the office.
By four o’clock, the quarterly income statements were triple-checked and emailed off to Yeo Jung-Hwa. Tomorrow’s workload included the inspection of the company’s financial software, and the firewalls with the head of the IT Department.
All the more reason to be lazy for the rest of your Saturday, curling up in some blankets and comfy clothes, watching a cooking show to pass the time until Caretaker Lee knocked your door, informing you that dinner was ready. You immediately followed her downstairs to the dining room, seeing everyone else in the Park family waiting for you with warm smiles.
The evening’s dish was bibimbap, a bowl consisting of meat, vegetables, and white rice. The side dishes with sliced green onions and kimchi. Small talk was exchanged between glasses of wine and bites of Caretaker Lee’s delicious meal.
Your younger brother wasn’t quite ready to have alcohol yet despite his claims that he is of age to drink. Your mother shared a funny story she heard about at the salon. Your father rarely said a word during dinner, but the loving gaze in his eyes told you everything you needed to know. Sometimes you hoped that all of it was real….but having too much hope will only make someone go insane. And you had no intention of being trapped in this hellhole for another loop. Being X? Fuck you.
The rest of the weekend went by in the blink of an eye. Everything went well, and you attached a copy of the inspection reports in another email to the male lead before finally falling asleep at almost midnight.
You couldn’t be blamed for being a bit cranky on Monday morning after arriving at the office with a large to-go mug of coffee in hand. At least you hoped so. You were not in the mood for any drama, and your team seemed to pick up on the vibes very quickly, diving into their tasks and only asking you questions if it was absolutely necessary.
For someone who skipped out on work this past weekend, Hyeung Mun-Hee looked like shit. She kept looking at her phone more often than usual with a crazed look in her eyes, biting her thumbnail until it bled. Wow. Okay, the fight with the male lead definitely bothered her a lot. Maybe it’s because it was the first argument she ever had with him?
You did not know and did not have the energy to care. You preferred to channel it into being productive and as polite as possible, especially when your face popped up on the online meeting with all the other heads, including Yeo Jung-Hwa. To your surprise, he had nothing but high praise for your team, promising to bestow a proper reward for their hard work.
Funny how he didn’t mention Hyeung Mun-Hee at all or accused you of stealing the credit since he knew she wasn’t in the office helping with crunching numbers and running tests on the software.
The male lead is actually not being a total dumbass in a time loop. What are the odds of that actually happening?
Regardless, the day ended on a pleasant note and you decided to treat yourself to a pastry on the way back home. But as you waited in the drive thru, your phone binged with a text notification while you were scrolling through some reels for knitting ideas. It was from Yeo Jung-Hwa. He wanted you to join him for dinner on Friday evening. If it didn’t work for you, he is available on Saturday afternoon for lunch.
The place would be entirely up to you. You know his preferences, so he isn’t too worried that you would make a mistake. At this point you weren’t sure if he’s complimenting your powers of observation or it was some backhanded insult.
No matter how much you wanted to delete the message and pretend that you never received it, refusing the male lead’s invitation is also a bad idea because you were stuck playing the role of Park Seo-yun, his fiancée who is supposed to be head over heels in love with him. If the real one were here instead of you, she would immediately jump at the chance to reclaim his affection before her engagement could be annulled.
The car behind yours honked and you saw that the drive thru was clear. You quickly drove up to it, placing your order in, then headed to the window. A few minutes later you had your treat in hand but you didn’t take a left and merged with the traffic heading towards home. Instead you parked your vehicle in the adjacent lot and glanced down at the text again. You didn’t want to sound like a teenage girl, and responding in a cold, professional tone would probably piss him off or lower the audience ratings. After some deliberation, you decided to settle for the following message:
All right, if that’s what you want. How about the Lotus Pavilion? I heard it’s really good but haven’t had the chance to go there. What do you think? 🌸 😊
The Lotus Pavilion is a five-star restaurant that not only boasts of a fine dining experience for the wealthy to enjoy at their behest, it’s also where Yeo Jung-Hwa frequently visit during the drama with the excuse that it is close to the male lead’s home, which is complete bullshit because Park Seo-yun in the original script got kicked out of their VIP list for inappropriate behavior; what really happened is that she caused a scene after catching Yeo Jung-Hwa and Hyeung Mun-Hee sitting together, calling them out on their affair, and the establishment wanted no connection to such a scandal.
Since you got booted from there in the previous loops, why not see what this place has to offer for this world’s villainess who hasn’t caught on to her fiancé’s philandering behavior yet?
It would be interesting if anyone realized that the male lead’s usual companion wasn’t with him that night~.
Yeo Jung-Hwa was simultaneously startled and ashamed to see the name of the restaurant you had wanted to go to. The Lotus Pavilion? It wasn’t too bad, but he knew you wouldn’t like the elitism atmosphere at all. You preferred to relax in a cozy cafe or indulge in the home-cooked meals that your housekeeper made. He knows you so well, yet why would you want to go here of all places? That was where he took Hyeung Mun-Hee all of the time! His eyes widened in realization. Wait. Is it possible that you have been aware of his affair with that woman for this entire time, and you chose not to say a word about it because you were afraid it would affect his reputation just as much as yours? Or that he would call off the engagement so that he could marry Hyeung Mun-Hee?
If he were still an idiot, then yes he would have. But he has changed for the better, and all because he had been suspicious of your behavior. Now he understands that there is more to you than meets the eye and why you’ve chosen to hide your true self from everyone. The business world can be a cruel and unforgiving place to thrive professionally; kindness and generosity in a leader were all well and good, but noblesse oblige did not snuff out the competitors or pay the employees their hard-earned paychecks.
You possesed intelligence, ambition, integrity, and a strong work ethic. All of the qualities needed in a team leader as well as someone who is to be married into his family in the near future.
Yeo Jung-Hwa felt his face burn at the idea of seeing you walking down the aisle in a beautiful gown, smiling brightly and eyes shining with happiness. Yes. He will go through with the engagement. He will become your husband and the sole breadwinner so that you wouldn’t have to stress about deadlines or meetings, converting that boundless energy into nurturing your children in a loving home.
But before these fantasies could become a reality, he needed to rebuild the foundation of your relationship. To gain your trust and sever ties completely with Hyeung Mun-Hee. He’s already taken the first step to putting distance between himself and that woman by blocking her phone calls and avoiding her entirely at the office during work hours. It might have only been a day, but it is progress in the right direction.
The reservations for The Lotus Pavilion were made in less than two minutes with explicit instructions on your food preferences. Failure was not an option or else he would personally speak to the manager about his staff’s lack of training. The maitre’d stutter over the phone as he tried to reassure him that everything will go according to plan before Yeo Jung-Hwa hung up. Soon, he thought with a smile. Soon everything will be alright again between Park Seo-yun and I and we will be happy.
You really wished Friday evening hadn’t come as quickly as it did. The work week went by in a flash, and before you realized what was happening, you had entered the main lobby on the first floor and informed the maitre’d that you were here under the reservation of your dinner companion. Her shocked expression told you everything, much to your chagrin. That son of a bitch made no effort to hide his affair with the female lead in this place, and now that you were with him tonight ...well, this is going to turn into a big mess if you weren’t too careful. There is still the possibility of being kicked out of here for causing a ruckus.
Question is, will it help the male lead realize that he must break things off with you and put his energy into mending things with Hyeung Mun-Hee? Couples who can’t communicate their feelings to each other properly are doomed to fail. Moreover, their romance is the driving force behind Love and Fortune. Without these two characters, this world would not exist.
And how you wished for its destruction every goddamned time you were forced to relive these scenes when Being X disapproved of your acting.
Although the name itself is a bit misleading because the restaurant’s interior design looked nothing like a pavilion from those historical dramas, you did have credit to whoever came up with the idea of planting a cherry blossom tree in the center of the first floor. It wasn’t completely in the way for the kitchen staff or clients, and it gave off an ethereal glow thanks to the low lighting from the ceiling lamps, almost as if the tree was possessed by a spirit or a goddess of love.
When the reservation was found, you followed a waiter up the stairs to the second floor and all the way to the back where the VIP section for the Lotus Pavilion’s wealthiest clients could enjoy a peaceful evening away from prying eyes so long as they were willing to pay the fee. Sitting at a table for two with a view of the city was Yeo Jung-Hwa, looking amazing as ever because of plot armor and he’s the male lead. No matter what is going on in this world, he’s always dressed to the nines. If he wants to go out in style then so be it.
Was the day’s exhaustion catching up to you or did his eyes actually brighten when you made eye contact with him? No. That can’t be right.
“I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.” You said as you gracefully sat down in the leather chair. You thanked the waiter under your breath as he carefully scooted you in before he pulled out a notepad. You ordered ice water and the evening’s special mocktail. Yeo Jung Hwa raised an eyebrow. “No alcohol?” He said after the server disappeared back towards the door. Or was there a bar here? It was too dark to tell.
You shrugged. “Didn’t feel like it.” You said, folding your hands in your lap. “And to what do I owe the pleasure of your company tonight? I was certain that you had…other plans.” You watched him swallow thickly, the fingers coiling tighter around the stem of his wine glass before he lifted it to his lips, took a few sips, and set it back down. He then grabbed the menu sitting on his left, offering it to you.
“Please select what you would like tonight. There is no need to be worried about paying for your own meal. It’s my treat.”
“I would have paid for it even if you had not offered to do so.” You said lightly. “Nor did you answer my question.” You plucked the menu from his outstretched hand, opening it to see the evening’s specials recommended by the chef. “But I suppose that doesn’t matter, does it? That was then, this is now.” You looked up at him with a quirked brow. “Or should I be concerned? I am to be your wife, and any matters regarding the conglomerate could be stressful to the employees, and to you, even myself who is a team leader in the Finance Department.”
His eyes widened. "Do you need to take any time off?” He asked suddenly. “I will gladly give it to you! You need to take care of yourself!"
You blinked. Well, that was an answer you had not expected from the cold-hearted CEO of this drama world to say to his villainous fiancee. Suppose you’ll take it with a grain of salt for now? After all, Being X has allowed some leeway in your assigned role. Why wouldn’t the puppetmaster do the same thing for one of his beloved actors?
“Thank you for your concern.” You said. “If I need to take some time off, I will submit a request in advance so I won’t cause any trouble for the team.” You watched Yeo Jung-Hwa exhale a sigh in relief before he reached for his phone, tapping on it for a few moments before he put it back on the table face down. Then it kept vibrating every couple of minutes until he grabbed it again and presumably shut it off, just right when the waiter came back with drinks. Yeo Jung-Hwa ordered a Hanwoo steak with rice, steamed vegetables and an American side salad. You asked for the same thing, but requested a thicker slice of the meat and doubled the size of the side dishes, if the chef would be so kind as to do that. Also dessert. You couldn’t top off a meal without something sweet, and everything looked delicious. You were pretty hungry after working hard today~.
"Are you really going to eat all that? Wouldn't you like something lighter?"
You paused, turning towards Yeo Jung-Hwa in astonishment. Did…he really just say that? This son of a bitch actually has the fucking nerve to make a comment like that in public? Humiliation and anger boiled in your veins simultaneously, and you could hear the other patrons whispering. Their assumptions, their spiteful comments, even how Yeo Jung-Hwa is engaged to a glutton instead of one of their daughters. Unbelievable.
You inhaled a deep breath through your nose, and exhaled through your mouth before you looked back at the waiter with a tight smile. “If it’s all right, could you put my order in a carry-out box?” You flashed a black card at him. “The fees won’t be an issue, and I’ll add an extra tip to you and the staff for accommodating me.”
“Wait, what are you-”
“I am going home to enjoy my meal without being judged.” You said icily, your smile still stretched across your lips. “I will not apologize for ordering as much food as I am because I did not have much time today to enjoy my lunch, no thanks to an emergency meeting that you arranged and taking Hyeung Mun-Hee aside in my office as she is being negligent of her work again. Even after I gave her a lecture, she still had the nerve to believe I was bullying her, and said I would be the one on her knees begging for forgiveness once her lover had heard about it. Tell me Yeo Jung-Hwa, who in the world would put such thoughts into her mind?” You laced your hands together, resting your elbows on the table. “As my supervisor, I am asking for advice as to how I should discipline her.”
“....”
“Well, thank you for a lovely evening, Yeo Jung-Hwa. I’ll see on Monday morning.” You said, taking the plastic bag from the waiter who had returned your card. You shoved the card in your purse and left the restaurant. You heard him call out to you, but you ignored him and unlocked your vehicle. Your arm would have been grabbed a second sooner if you didn’t quicken your pace, opening and slamming the driver’s side. You turned on the engine and drove off into the night towards home. Well, your temporary sanctuary anyway.
About an hour later you had retreated to your room, brushing off your father’s concern for the tears that were trickling down your face in favor of a much needed self-care session. A hot bath with burning incense and music playing in the background, comfortable clothes, and your meal that you hadn’t gotten a chance to try. Caretaker Lee was kind enough to deliver it on a silver tray with a steaming cup of hot cocoa next to your dessert. She always knew how to make you feel better and unashamed of who you are.
A complete contrast to a certain someone who hasn’t stopped texting or leaving you voicemails when you’ve refused to pick your phone. Asshole.
Frustrated and hungry, you unlocked your device and shut it off. You threw it on the bed and turned on the television, tray on your lap and your attention now glued to the opening credits of a high stakes baking competition.
Yeo Jung-Hwa was embarrassed with how you acted this evening. Why were you so mad? Yes, he knew you had a big appetite but he did not know that you had skipped lunch because he can’t install cameras in your office!
And why would Hyeung Mun-Hee say something like that to you?! Is she trying to broadcast their relationship to the conglomerate when he’s told her to keep her mouth shut about it? If it’s known that he, the leader of his family’s empire and an engaged man is having an affair, the stocks would plummet! He would be ruined, you would be ruined!
Can’t she understand that I do want to mend our relationship, and she has the nerve to walk out on me like that?! He thought, anger swelling up inside of him and ready to burst from his chest as he lifted his hands to card through his hair, tugging at the roots in frustration. God, he needed a stiff drink after this fiasco.
He informed the server to put his food in a carry-out box as well, paying for the meal that he didn’t get to enjoy while trying very hard to ignore the other patrons as they whispered to each other about what they had seen tonight. The scene you had caused.
He returned home, ate his meal and retreated to his office with a second drink in his hand. He booted up the computer and tapped into the camera feed. Yeo Jung-Hwa’s heart lurched uncomfortably. He had expected you to be asleep or reading or knitting or watching television, not crying in your father’s arms!
Yeo Jung-Hwa leaned back in his leather chair, widened violet eyes unable to tear away from the screen as he watched your shoulders tremble in your father’s embrace. The head of the Park family rocked you back and forth, whispering softly in your hair. Gone is the fearless leader and in his place is a loving, concerned parent. Someone he wanted to be after having children with you…but was that even possible now?
He hadn’t meant to upset you, to make you cry. His mind was now clear, all of the anger gone and out of his system. In retrospect, you were not wrong with how you acted. He was the one who acted inappropriately, making a callous comment about your appetite when he hadn’t meant to say it as an insult. It was an honest slip of the tongue!
His hands trembled, now suddenly terrified that your father would be the one to call off the engagement and arrange you to marry someone else. No. No, that couldn’t happen! He wanted to be with you! He wanted to make this relationship work!
He exhaled a shaky breath, taking another swing from his glass before he set down on the table. When he did so, his phone chimed with a notification. Another phone call from Hyeung Mun-Hee.
His thumb swiped across the screen as he declined the call and turned his attention back to you and your father, praying that his worst nightmare would not be made a reality on Monday morning.
That he still had a chance to make things right.
“Am I overreacting? Did you not hear me when I said he took that woman to our favorite restaurant, and she made a scene?! It’s a good thing no one actually posted a video about it, and I heard about this incident from a reliable source, or the situation could have been a lot worse! What? No! No, this will not be a determinant to our plans. Have a little faith in me! I need to go. I have an important call to make. I’ll see you soon.”

Hey guys, and welcome to another original yandere oc x series, featuring the good-looking prick and CEO of his family's conglomerate, Yeo Jung-Hwa. This is a collaboration between me and the incredibly talented @deathmetalunicorn1. Special thanks to @pinkgoldweebgirl and @witch-of-the-writing-desk for their honest feedback on the earlier drafts of this project.
Part Two
Part Three
Everyone has heard or watched the famous daily drama, Love and Fortune. Boasting over 124 episodes, it chronicles the romance between a cold-hearted CEO named Yeo Jung-Hwa and a hardworking, kind-hearted employee at his family’s conglomerate named Hyeong Mun-Hee. Of course, no drama is without conflict because that would be a very boring story to broadcast to the world.
Including the male lead’s family opposing the idea that would marry someone beneath his social status, the villainous Park Seo-yun refuses to break off her engagement to him even when her feelings are completely one-sided. In retrospect, Park Seo-yun had been written as a vicious and incredibly stupid antagonist so that Hyeung Mun-Hee’s perseverance through such bullying and her devotion towards Yeo Jung-Hwa were highlighted and touched the viewers with her kind heart. At least that is what you believe after being trapped in the world of this drama for…how long has it been? A year? Three years?
It was hard to keep track of time when Being X - that’s the name you gave to whatever is controlling this world like a goddamned puppeteer - would reset everything if you tried to act out of character such as amiably breaking up with male lead so he could be with Hyeong Mun-Hee or trying to overdose on sleeping meds in a desperate attempt to escape. Presently this was your fourth loop, and you were not going to let everything, the hard work you’ve put in, to be all for nothing.
You were going to move forward.
You were going to survive.
You were going to have a peaceful life once this drama is over.
Just say your lines and be ready for the next scene. Right?
According to the drama’s script, the reason that Park Seo-yun worked for the Yeo family’s conglomerate is because everyone thought it would be a brilliant idea for her to see how the business of her future in-laws operated and be prepared to step in if Yeo Jung-Hwa was incapacitated for any reason. In your humble opinion, it is honestly a bad idea for two reasons. One, it isn’t wise to mix business with a marriage, let alone an engagement that is written to be destroyed upon the arrival of the female lead. Two, it just doesn't make sense. Prosperous businesses are supposed to have a qualified Chief Operating Officer, otherwise known as a COO, to implement plans and the direction that the CEO wishes to follow as well as coordinating with other team managers.
But this is common sense from the real world. You are stuck in a drama and currently the team manager of the conglomerate’s financial department. You might have a nice office in the back where you can see everything, but it barely alleviated your annoyance with Hyung Mun-Hee as she hunched over her desk, texting on her personal phone instead of correcting the mistakes she made on the documents you were supposed to hand out to everyone at today’s meeting; budget allocations, projected growths and downturns, including whether Team Leader Kim Dokja will be able to hire a few more employees that he really needs to help with the IT department’s neverending workflow.
You know that this is a pivotal scene in both Heyong Mun-Hee’s character development and the beginning of your downfall. You know that after accusing the female lead of slacking off, forcing her to kneel and apologize for paralyzing your department because everyone worked overtime to cover her unexcused absences, this is when the male lead steps in and protects his darling from being bullied further.
To the writers of Love and Fortune: this example of lazy creativity is why your successful series eventually received backlash and everyone demanded a revamped version. In layman’s terms, fuck you assholes for making your job as the villainess a lot more difficult than it should be.
You already made her kneel and all that jazz in the last two loops and it didn’t do shit. Not this time. You were going to go for a more subtle, professional approach. As long as it seems like you were antagonizing Hyung Mun-Hee because Love and Fortune is written from her point of view, you should be fine. Hopefully. God, you hoped so.
If you actually got through this scene, you were definitely going to reward the team for their hard work with some baked goods for breakfast or a catered lunch. You haven’t used your infamous black credit card since this loop started. Rolling your shoulders back, you inhaled a slow, deep breath before leaning over towards the printer, grabbing the documents that the female lead emailed to you. You pretended to read them over, eyes narrowing and fingers thumbing through all of them until you reached the end. Rising from your seat, you walked out of the office and addressed the staff, calmly.
“Excuse me everyone, but may I have a moment of your time?” Your slightly agitated voice caused all seven team members to stare at you with faces that ranged from confusion, fear, and curiosity. You respectfully incline your head. “Thank you.” You held up your little prop in the air for all to see. “Whoever emailed me the paperwork I am to present at this afternoon’s meeting, please come to my office. I have some questions about the context.”
An uneasy silence fell upon the office, making your heart stink. Shit. You needed to improvise and fast before Being X noticed. You sighed, pressing two fingers to the side of your temple to make it seem like you were starting to feel a headache coming on, which funnily enough you were.
“I’m not going to bite anyone’s head off, I promise. There are just a few things in here that do not make sense and I’d like to understand before I am to present them as the team leader.” Please take the bait, Hyeung Mun-Hee. You thought pleadingly with your eyes closed. If you have any self-respect left or at least feel a little sorry for being lazy, stand up and admit your mistake so that your perseverance shines through in this scene. You’ve done it before, you can do it again.
When you opened your eyes, she was still sitting at her desk with wide eyes and a flushed face, clutching her phone as if it were a lifeline. Your eyebrow twitched. You have got to be kidding me. You thought sourly. This isn’t how a female lead is supposed to act, let alone an actual employee of a multi-million won company.
Fine. If she wasn’t going to come to you willingly, then you couldn’t play nice.
You were about to call her out when she suddenly stood up and made a beeline towards your office, passing by you and taking a seat in your office. Huh? Isn’t this a bit rude? Unfortunately your role isn’t to ponder why certain people like common decency. So you turned around, walking back inside your workspace and closing the door behind you. Once you sat down behind the dark mahogany desk that was at least twice the size of a normal cubicle, you booted up your desktop and logged into the company’s bookkeeping program before swiveling the monitor around so that Hyeung Mun-Hee could see where she made her mistakes.
“Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee, I noticed that there were some miscalculations here,” You moved your cursor over one column. “And here.” You moved it to the right. “Here as well.” You moved it back to the left, right in the middle. “The formula you imputed for Columns H to J is incorrect. I want you to refer to your department manual and make the necessary corrections before sending it out to the other departments. I trust you can handle this task?”
She should be able to. After all, the female lead had a buffer for being extremely intelligent and a math whiz in the script. That’s why she was selected to work here instead of Human Resources, where her communication skills were also top notch. Hyeung Mun-Hee quickly nodded, standing up from her seat and almost bolting back to her desk, still holding onto her phone like a security blanket. Which was a little odd. You don’t remember her being so protective of it in the previous loops.
You reclined back against your chair. Oh well, no matter. Time to see this house of cards come crashing down in five minutes. Too bad it can’t be longer. But the show must go on, right? She might be scripted to fail, but you gave her a chance to correct her mistakes. So in the end, it was truly and solely all her fault, not yours.
Sure enough the phones began ringing off of the hook, followed by shouting from a few of the senior employees. You got a frantic phone call from Research/Development manager Choi Iseul, asking why the promised budget had been cut in half. Closing out the screens on your desktop, you reassured the poor girl that you would look into this matter immediately before hanging up. She really didn’t need the stress right now at four months pregnant.
You stepped out of the office, demanding what was going on. All eyes turned to the leading lady herself, her head down and face pinkened in embarrassment. You blinked. “Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee, what happened? You did fix the report as I had asked, right?” You controlled the tone of your voice, careful to not show anger and annoyance, strictly professionalism. You were pretty sure that you didn’t sound like a vindictive bitch either. But somehow she took your question as her cue to shout at you, to stop bullying her before running out towards the elevator. And right into the arms of the male lead.
You exhaled a deep breath, running a hand through [Hair Color] tresses before you turned your attention back towards the team. “I need to fix this report and send it off to the other departments or else things will get ugly. I know I’m asking a lot right now, but could you screen the incoming calls? If any of them asks, please let them know I am making the necessary corrections and will email it to them promptly. Disregard the one that they’ve received from Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee.”
Everyone clamored in agreement before diving back into their work, some already answering the phones and reciting exactly what you asked them to say as you bolted towards your office, slamming the door behind you. Considering that this isn’t your first loop, you had already taken the liberty of creating the correct report this morning before clocking in at the office. The issues were the same, so it took you all but twenty minutes to adjust and send it out to the managers.
The calamity that struck evaporated in an instant, and the phones had stopped ringing. To you, it only heralded the opening sequence of the next scenario. Looking up from your phone, you saw two people walk out of the elevator. The female lead was dabbing her puffy face with a checkered handkerchief, standing by Yeo Jung Hwa himself as he got off his own personal device, no doubt finishing his talk with the CFO about his darling’s little fuck up.
Placing your phone face down on the desk, you watched them glide across the room before the CEO reached your office, opening the door with a frown stretched across his face.
Yeo Jung Hwa. The male lead of Love and Fortune, blessed with good looks, riches, and has been in charge of the conglomerate since he was twenty years old. A classic tyrannical CEO that almost everyone loved to read or watch because they’d see how soft he was around his lover and wanted that same kind of treatment for themselves. You saw him as more of a cunning snake who knew what he wanted and would use any means necessary to get it.
But whatever. Time to get into character. You thought as you stood up, eyeing the male lead apathetically. “Good afternoon, sir. How can I help you?”
“Explain what happened.” He said, amethyst eyes narrowing at you. Yes, he has fucking purple eyes thank you goddamned screenwriters.
You raised an eyebrow. “Explain what, sir?” You asked. “The incident that has everyone in a panic?” Receiving nothing but silence from him, you continued. “It’s been resolved. I’ve already emailed all of the department heads the correct report to refer to at today’s meeting. I did tell Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee to fix the mistakes I’ve shown her,” You glanced at your employee before averting your attention back to the prick. “But when I looked at what was sent out, she did make a few adjustments…just that it only made matters worse and could have cost the company a lot of money.” You crossed your arms, leaning back against your desk. “Her performance was unacceptable, and she is my responsibility as her team leader. Which is why I would like to have Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee participate in this month’s upcoming financial seminars. A little refresher for two weeks, using her vacation days, and pass the tests so that there will not be a repeat of this incident again and jeopardize the conglomerate. Or would you see this as unfair treatment of an employee, CEO Yeo Jung-Hwa?”
You watched as the male lead looked over his shoulder, glaring balefully at his lover before he turned back to face you. “So be it. I want to see the results of her tests once they are completed and the lecturers aren’t under your payroll, Team Leader Park Seo-yun.”
“With all due respect, they are under your payroll, not mine.” You said drolly. “I don’t care how long it will take for her to complete the classes or to do the coursework. I want results, same as you. I do want to keep the completion certificates. If she doesn’t do it or chooses not to for whatever reason beyond a medical emergency, suspension with pay. No ifs, ands, or buts. Are these acceptable terms, sir?”
He didn’t like it, you could tell. Any event that separated from Hyeung Mun-Hee would put him in a sour mood and become more of a grouch. Kind of like a child having his favorite toy being taken away because he did something bad. But in this situation he couldn’t afford to have a temper tantrum for obvious reason:
1) Displaying an immature attitude in a professional environment will make him less appealing to the viewers.
2) As previously stated, it was the female lead’s fault that this whole mess happened. He saw the evidence of her major fuck up, the CFO saw it, everyone did. Trying to sweep it under the rug would only incite more rumors of nepotism. He has a reputation to maintain.
“...Fine.” He spat out. You nodded, seeing him turn on the ball of his foot and stomp out of the room. Nope, he is not happy about this. Neither is the trembling female lead standing in front of you. She really was a pretty woman, with reddish-brown hair falling past her shoulders and hazel eyes glistening with tears.
“You’re dismissed. I’ll let you know the seminar schedule once I hear back from HR. Please return to work, you still have two hours left on your shift.” You said, expecting her to go running to the restroom and cry, have a mental dialogue about how things were unfair right now but she will come out on top and preserve as it was written in the script. Except…she didn’t leave right away. She was glaring at you as if you were the most despicable person in the entire world, which you guess holds some truth.
“You said this is all my fault, but it isn’t because I wasn’t trained properly! Where do you get off, saying such horrible things like this?! Just because you are rich doesn’t mean you have a great personality!”
Your eyes widened in shock. Okay, this scene was definitely not part of the drama in the last three loops. And she’s smart enough to know to not say this, even if the door is closed!
Let’s be serious. No one should ever talk to a supervisor like this, even if they are an absolute scumbag and you hate their guts.
“Assistant Manager Hyeung Mun-Hee, you were trained to learn and carry out these tasks during the ninety day trial period after being hired by the conglomerate,” You said as you tried to calm your racing heart. “I showed you the mistakes you made, and it’s clear that you made almost no effort to fix them. If you had, then this incident would not have happened. That is why you are going to sit through those seminars and take notes, or you will be suspended without pay. This is not up for debate. And just because I am rich doesn’t mean you can talk down to people as if you are better than them, myself included. Now leave. And don’t let me hear such vulgar words in here again or I will punish you. Are we clear?”
“You-“
“Are you going to make me pull up your file and show everyone your certificates of completion from those training programs, the proof that you were trained to do your job and you’ve chosen to let others do your work for you?” You asked. “It’s fine to ask for help from others when needed, but you have to take responsibility for your actions or else you’ll never be able to surpass me.”
You watched Hyeung Mun-Hee’s face turn a darker shade of magenta and the tremors in her petite frame increase greatly before she excused herself. You could see the steam coming out of her ears; whether it was from embarrassment or anger, you weren’t certain. So long as she got your message and you acted your part as the villainess, then that should have met almost all of the requirements needed to move onto the next episode. The remaining factors were the viewership score and Being X’s approval.
The viewership score is a daily simple rating system numbered from 1 to 5 golden stars. If the episode reaches 3 and above, you’re clear. If the score is a 2, and Being X did not like your acting or even how everything played out, the loop would start all over again from the first scene. Perhaps instead of puppeteer, it’s more like a perfectionist director whose opinion can also be swayed by the viewership score. If the audience watching this fucked up universe enjoyed what they were watching, they’ll make it known.
After all, more ratings means more money, even if you’re not getting paid for this.
The last two loops where this episode happened, you followed the script to the letter without making any improvs. It didn't work out in the end, as you recalled with a frown at the memory. After being forced to kneel on the floor as you had done to her, you watched the lovebirds embrace. Well, at least the male lead was trying to comfort his ‘pure-hearted’ lover when that bitch smiled down at you from over his shoulder. As if she had won the game and you were the loser. Being X didn’t like the viewership scores back then. Now? Well, that’ll depend on whether or not you’ll wake up to the setting of episode 25 tomorrow morning. It’s either that…or finding yourself in the interview room again with Hyeung Mun-Hee during the pilot episode, her job application in your hand.

Part Four
Part Five
The day to meet Yeo Jung-Hwa at the rendezvous point arrived quicker than you had expected. As much as you have regretted cooperating with the police in this crazy scheme, it was already too late to back out now. You gave your parents a tight hug and sent a good-luck text message to your little brother on his exams today before the family’s chaperone pulled out of the garage, and out towards the highway. Forty-five minutes were spent trudging through the mid-morning traffic, then the number of cars gradually lessened as you got further and further out of the city.
Yeo Jung-Hwa had texted you he’ll be there shortly, though he might run ten to fifteen minutes late because of work. Highly unlikely, but you sent a screenshot to Detective Lim’s phone. There was no point in waiting in the parking lot for the male lead to enter, so you told the chaperone that you were going to head inside the cafe. You asked him if he wanted anything while he waited, but the poor man confessed that he was too worried about you to have an appetite.
You smiled apologetically. “When this is all over, how about we stop by your favorite bakery? Think about it and what you’d like until I get back.” You didn’t give him much time to protest before you turned away, speed-walking towards the glass doors and pulling one of them open. A blast of cool air and soft piano music greeted you, followed by a chipper-looking receptionist named Haru. Recognition and understanding brightened in her green eyes after you informed her of the special reservation you had made with the owner.
Smile still on her face and carrying two menus in her hand, Haru gestured to you to follow her towards the back of the establishment. Through another set of doors, a stone path opened up and under an archway of cherry blossoms. Turning left, then another right, a white marbled pagoda surrounded by roses came into view.
Prior to its affiliation with famous cooking shows, the gardens of the Cozy Nook and Garden Cafe were what brought in the customers who loved to take the algae-covered stone paths around the lake. Not too many people knew it was man made, with floating water lilies and other water-based flora.
It was extremely hard to get a reservation at the pagoda to enjoy it at the client’s leisure without breaking their wallet. Fortunately, you were wealthy enough to do so and had offered to pay for the reservation as some kind of compensation towards the owner for allowing this sting operation to even happen. But he did not budge. Not even when you offered to pay twice the amount for his employees.
Once you sat down in the wrought-iron chair Haru had pulled out, she excused herself to bring you some tea and sweets to calm your rattled nerves. You tried to distract yourself by observing the other onlookers, seeing them so at ease and happy while you were an absolute wreck. You really, really hoped that this nightmare would be over soon. Because of the laws of this country, police couldn’t put a wire on you without probable cause and a warrant that is backed up by sufficient evidence. Right now, the most they get away with is a hidden camera wedged between the jeweled seeds of the sunflower-shaped brooch pinned to your blouse.
Oh God, why did you even agree to go through with this? What if Yeo Jung-Hwa isn’t the culprit? Who else in this drama world would want to kill Choi M-Rae, Hyeung Mun-Hee, whoever the female lead truly is? She is supposed to help propel the story of Love and Fortune until the very end and yet this shithole is still functioning as if nothing ever happened.
“Park Seo-yun!”
Gasping, you looked away from the lake and saw Haru walking back towards the pagoda with a golden tray in her hand, carrying your precious refreshments. When you saw who was walking behind her in a freshly pressed suit and blinding smile, you wished someone had replaced your order with a bottle of very strong alcohol. Or get your order in a to-go container and get as far away from Yeo Jung-Hwa as possible.
The promise you made to the detectives kept you anchored in your seat and put on a polite facade as this world’s male lead walked up the pagoda’s steps. “It’s good to see you, Yeo Jung-Hwa. Thank you for coming out to see me on such notice.”
He waved it off, taking the seat across from you. “It’s all right. If anything, I was hoping we could talk sooner.” He raised an eyebrow. “But you weren’t answering my phone calls.”
Your heart plummeted into the pit of your stomach. Shit. You thought. He knew you blocked his number.
“However,” He said. “I understand you were upset with me for what I did. But now my only focus is on you.” He smiled, leaning in with that Cheshire grin of his. “So, I am surprised you decided on this place as a meeting spot. Are you sure your parents don’t know where you are?”
You shrugged. “I told them I was going to do some shopping and be back, maybe around dinner. Telling them I’d be back for lunch might cut it a little too close. After all, it is a long drive back to the city and there’s no reason to make them suspicious of me just yet.” You cradled the teacup in your palms, flashing another small smile at him. “I won’t lie, I was…quite surprised at the gift you had to send to me.” You then tilted your head to the side, like a curious little puppy dog. “I did not know you were familiar with the meaning behind white tulips, Yeo Jung-Hwa. I never thought of you as someone who would give a flower bouquet.”
In fact, he had never given gifts to anyone except the female lead during their courtship in Love and Fortune. He must have done his research this time to apologize for what he did?
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Park Seo-yun. I only hope that now we can put the past behind us and move forward. That’s why I sent you the gift. As proof of my devotion and loyalty.” He leaned back against his chair. “The problem is that my father, and especially yours, would not approve of them having us engaged again. I’m still doing damage control at the conglomerate, but things are slowly getting better. It will take some time until things settle down, however, so I’m afraid going on dates will be few. We can do ScreenTime though!” He added quickly. “Or texting. And I know you won’t raise a fuss or complain that our quality time, or try to have me buy gifts to make up for not being there for you. You’re better than Choi Mi-Rae was when….I was with her.”
Was. Past tense. She’s dead. The female lead of this world is dead and this son of a bitch gave you her fucking finger as a sign of his newfound devotion to you. How is that showing devotion, and how can he be so casual about this whole situation?! Oh God, you were going to throw up. You were going to throw up and potentially screw up this entire operation.
You inhaled a deep breath through your nostrils, brought the cup to your lips, and tilted your head back. Well, as long as a young lady of exceptional pedigree can enjoy her tea without looking like a drunkard trying to drown himself in alcohol or a complete idiot. You exhaled slowly, and carefully placed the cup back on the saucer before you smiled at the befuddled Yeo Jung-Hwa.
“The tea is truly delicious here.” You said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if I come back here again just for this.” You said, raising your index finger to stroke the rim of the teacup, curling your other hand into a loose fist and tucking it against the side of your jaw. Be calm. Try to relax. Pretend that there isn’t a psychotic nutjob sitting across from you and be yourself. Play along until you get the signal from Detective Lim.
Yeo Jung-Hwa mimicked your posture, much to your chagrin and annoyance. “Is that so?” He mused. “Just for the tea?”
“Perhaps the sweets too. It’ll depend on my mood, really.” You pushed the plate of cookies towards him. “Help yourself. I can’t eat all of them. It wouldn’t be fair for me to be the only one indulging in her gluttony.”
You relished in sadistic delight as you impassively watched the male lead squirm in his seat, purple eyes downcast and cheeks red with shame. Were you petty? Yup. And you were not ashamed of it at this moment.
Haru eventually came back to the pagoda and took down Yeo Jung-Hwa’s order of sparkling yuja tea and bulgogi beef banhi mi. He had skipped breakfast this morning to attend a few meetings in the office, so he had worked up a bit of an appetite today. The two of you exchanged small talk over the next hour; well, as much as you could tell him without screaming your goddamn head off in fear and wondering how long it takes for cops to find the evidence they need to either arrest Yeo Jung-Hwa or remove him from the list of suspects. The male lead was about to take his second bit of the sandwich when your phone rang. You quickly pulled it out of your purse and saw the caller ID on the screen. Mama Bear.
“Excuse me for a moment, Yeo Jung-Hwa. I need to take this. No talking.” You pressed a finger to your lips, showing him it was your mother calling in to check on you. His head bobbled in understanding before you stood up from your chair, racing down the stairs and standing behind one of the pagoda’s pillars. You slide your finger across the screen, then pressing it against your ear. “Hello?”
“It’s done.” Detective Kang said on the other end. “We’ve found what we were looking for. And a lot more than we expected.”
“Oh?” You asked. “I had planned on being out until dinnertime, but you need me home sooner? Is everything alright?”
“Be ready. We’ll be moving in soon. Just don’t do anything too reckless, all right? Keep calm, keep him distracted. You’re doing great, Park Seo-yun.”
“Okay, if you say it like that, then I have no choice but to obey.” You sighed, lowering your voice with a small pout tugging at the corners of your mouth. To make it seem like to Yeo Jung-Hwa that you were speaking to your mother and unhappy that your time with him was being cut short. You knew he was listening. There was no way that he wouldn’t be eavesdropping on your conversation. He is the male lead of this drama world, after all. “Talk to you soon. Love you. Bye.”
You disconnected the call, pocketing your phone, and walked back inside. “It looks like I have to leave soon.” You smiled apologetically. “Mother wants me home.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Already?” He said. “We haven’t been here for that long, or taken a walk around the lake!”
“I know, I know. I don’t want to go either, Yeo Jung-Hwa.” You had to resist the urge to grind your back molars and throw something at this insufferable bastard before making a run towards freedom, away from him. “However, I need to keep playing the role of a filial daughter who just had her engagement broken. Ever since that night happened, my parents have been strict with me staying out too long because they are afraid I will ruin our reputation even more. Can you imagine it? A grown woman like myself, having a curfew like I am sixteen all over again!” You sighed, reaching for your tea cup, seeing the milky green liquid swirl at the bottom. “Guess I’ll finish this and go home. Don’t worry about the bill. I’ll take care of it.”
You had drunk half of it, and there was still so much left. Hopefully, it will suffice for one grand performance. Bottom’s up. You thought, tilting your head and gulping down the rest of the delicious tea…but….why did the aftertaste seem more bitter than before?
You were not prepared to have your teacup suddenly slapped out of your hands, falling onto the pagoda’s floor with a loud c-crish. You looked up, seeing a tall man with spiky hair panting heavily as if he had just sprinted a marathon. His large hand still hovered in the air from where he had knocked the tea away from you. His slightly pudgy belly stuck out a bit from the black apron that protected his work uniform. You actually would have mistaken him for another employee of the cafe from the clothes he wore, but on the right corner of his apron were two red words sewn in. Big Boss.
Oh, crap. The owner was here. He looked absolutely furious…and worried?
Yeo Jung-Hwa must have not noticed the little detail of this man’s apron because he glared up at him as if he had just interrupted an extremely intimate conversation between the two of you. “What is the meaning of this?! Is the professionalism of this place so poor that you, a mere commoner, would dare to act like this toward a client?!”
“I saw you put something in her drink when my client walked away to take a phone call!” The owner snarled, pointing a finger at him. “Who does that these days, and in a cafe?! If anything, you’re the one with poor table manners!” He then turned to you, his hand grasping yours. “You okay?” He asked. “Did you drink any of that tea?”
Oh. Oh. You hadn’t noticed that your hands were trembling. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you bravely looked to the side and saw the spilled contents of the tea cup foam up. Oh God. Yeo Jung-Hwa really had put something in your drink. A tablet. Jesus H Christ. You were going to be sick. Nope, definitely throw up in a bush and possibly die.
“I drank all of it.” You finally said.
“Shit. Someone call an ambulance, right now!” The owner barked over his shoulder before he helped you out of your seat. “C’mon, let’s get you inside.” He said, wrapping an arm around you as he led you out of the pagoda.
“What are you doing?! Take your hands off of me! Do you know who I am?!” Yeo Jung-Hwa yelled as three dressed down officers grappled him. “I am Yeo Jung-Hwa! I am the leader of the Yeo conglomerate, I’ll have your jobs for this inexcusable offense! Park Seo-yun, darling, where are you going?! Wait, WAIT! I can explain! I had to do it! If I hadn’t, I would go crazy without seeing you again! Can’t you see I love you?! Choi Mi-Rae, that bastard who had dared to try to poison you at the gala. I had to get rid of them so that they could never come between us again! Come back! PARK SEO-YUN!”
He tried to drug you. The male lead of Love and Fortune tried to drug you in public just so he could have you. He killed Choi Mi-Rae. He’s fucking insane. Shit, you can already feel a migraine coming on, but you don’t feel any different except your adrenaline is skyrocketing like crazy. Maybe the drug takes much longer to take effect?
You tried to think, but you couldn’t. You were just so tired. That was the last thing you remembered before darkness clouded your vision, cajoling you to fall into a dreamless sleep despite the shouting, a ding from your phone and the feeling of being lifted onto something hard and flat. A stretcher, perhaps? Ah, you really didn’t want to think anymore.
So you didn’t.
Deep within the constellations that dotted the bluish-violet night skies, Being X lounged against their chair like a lazy cat. They fixed their gaze on the translucent blue screen in front of them, observing how paramedics surrounded an unconscious Park Seo-yun and placed them into the back of an ambulance. The cafe owner they had created on a whim for this scenario immediately volunteered to go with her to make sure she was all right. They had considered placing Myeong Ga-Eul as the knight in shining armor, but considering the background they had created for him, it wouldn’t fit the image of a hard-working second son whose dreams of being a pastry chef too well. But that was all right. They will come back here and check on the development of Love and Fortune another day.
For now, they were very pleased with how they wrote out the finale of the drama with such care and attention to all the little details.
The audience will no doubt crave for more, and greenlight the production of season two.
Though if the cafe owner or the police hadn’t interfered as they had done, the finale would have ended very differently; Yeo Jung-Hwa would have kidnapped Park Seo-yuan, and he would have forced her to stay with him. Defy him? Well, then all he would have to do was make a phone call to the men trailing after her little brother and end his life. Her parents would have been next, if push came to shove. Still, everything worked out nicely in the end.
Their leading lady deserves a small break with someone who has a high potential to be the new male lead of this world. After all, she has much more work to do when they come back~.
“Now, what should I work on next?” From left, then right, top to bottom, more blue screens surrounded them. Each one playing out a different scenario with different characters in different genres. Endless possibilities that can become stories to entertain the masses.
“What a day.” They said in amusement. “What a lovely day.”

Hey guys, and welcome to part two of my new original yandere oc x series, featuring the good-looking prick and CEO of his family's conglomerate, Yeo Jung-Hwa.
This is a collaboration between me and the incredibly talented @deathmetalunicorn1. Special thanks to @pinkgoldweebgirl for their honest feedback on the earlier drafts of this project and @impeakcharacterdesign for being my beta-reader for the final draft.
I definitely was not expecting such positive feedback on the first part in less than a week, so thank you all for reblogging, liking, and commenting your thoughts on it, they really made some of my more stressful days in the medical field a little brighter :)
Also, if the lofi vibes nor are the clothes written in here aren’t your thing, feel free to insert whatever is your preferred interior theme and fashion/clothing style.
So with that being said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the drama being unfolded on the stage.

Part three
Part four
Yeo Jung-Hwa was unhappy with the series of events that had occurred at the office. Hyueng Mun-Hee had bursted into his office with tears streaming down her bright red face, sobbing about how she cannot stand being bullied by the team manager of her department any longer. Who was the team manager?
You. His fiancee. The woman he must marry. A promise between his father and yours that would be beneficial to everyone involved - everyone except him. Wasn’t he entitled to experience pure joy of being loved and in love? To be with someone who wasn’t tiresome and annoyed him all the time?
Meeting Hyeung Mun-Hee had felt like seeking the sky for the first time. She was a breath of fresh air to his stifling world. Hearing your most recent act of cruelty towards her had been the final straw. And like any self-respecting CEO, he texted the CFO to look into it before all hell had broken loose. He was receiving emails from the managers of all the other departments left and right, all with the same attachment. Botched up documents. And the one who had sent it was none other than Hyeung Mun-Hee.
But he didn’t believe it at first.
He truly thought it was another underhanded trick you had created to get Hyeung Mun-Hee fired because that’s exactly the sort of person you are to him; a dishonest, greedy, arrogant woman whose saving grace as a human being is an excellent work ethic. Once he had calmed his darling, drying her tears with his handkerchief, he marched into the Finance Department and demanded answers from you as soon as he got off of the phone with his panicked CFO. Instead of apologizing for what you did, you explained how Hyeung Mun-Hee made mistakes and you gave her a chance to fix them, but she did not correct them. She completed the required training. She knows how to calculate and make spreadsheets, so why is she pushing her work onto others?
More importantly, you fixed her mistakes and sent out the correct ones to the other departments. Everything has been resolved, but you wanted Hyeung Mun-Hee to attend the company’s financial seminars to ensure that this embarrassing incident does not happen again. As much as he despised you, every point you made was correct…especially after he retreated to his office and compared the budget allocations on his monitors; Hyeung Mun-Hee’s on the left and yours on the right. The numbers in his darling’s work were completely off, and they could have cost the company hundreds of thousands if the situation hadn’t been resolved.
He was certain that it was sheer dumb luck.
Just because you had prevented a major internal disaster from occurring doesn’t mean he would ever look at you as he looked at Hyeung Mun-Hee. In a cesspool filled with hypocrites and liars, his darling is a breath of fresh air. Pure, kind-hearted, committed. Loving. So many qualities you lacked. Yet is it all that it seems? He thought, sitting alone in his home office late at night. If Hyeung Mun-Hee made these mistakes, why didn’t she just admit it instead of coming to me?
He wanted to believe she was telling the truth, yet the proof is right there on his computer. Like his predecessors, he needed to take on the responsibility of a leader and make sure that the conglomerate’s integrity remained intact. However, he also desired to shelter his darling from the world’s cruelty. Remove her from the department and secretly marry her so that they could be together at last. He is selfish, but he has the right to bask in his own happiness. Unlike some people.
Well, if he can’t outright get the truth from you…then he’ll just have to call in a favor from a certain someone in the underworld. The person in question could set up cameras in your bedroom by slipping in and out of your estate as a groundskeeper or pest control and no one would be the wiser. He could do it for a price and make sure that nothing could be traced back to him. The last thing Yeo Jung-Hwa wanted is to be arrested for illegally filming someone without their consent.
Not when this is an opportunity to sever ties with you completely, once and for all.
Two days later, he received an email and an attachment. When he clicked on it, four camera angles appeared on his desktop. All of them were in your room. But is this really your room? He expected it to be clean with sleek, wooden floors covered by monochrome carpeting and a walk-in closet filled to the brim with extravagant clothes, shoes, purses that she wouldn’t wear twice in her life. The uninspiring minimalist bougie interior design that is being coveted amongst the upper classes. Your taste was much more comforting. It appeared cozy, with soft lighting and warm blankets.
Strings of fairy lights strung up across the ceiling. A full bookshelf was near the bed. The floor was decorated with knitted ottomans and candles. You lit them all back up as soon as you returned from the company, much later in the evening and when he was in his home office, cradling a cup of black coffee.
You disappeared into the back for a moment, returning in a two-piece fleece loungewear with mushrooms and plants on them. Something he had expected to see Hyeung Mun-Hee dressed in, but not you. Were you trying to copy his lover’s tastes so he would pay attention to you? How shameless!
When he flipped the audio on the cameras, he expected to hear snide remarks about Hyeung Mun-Hee or see you talking to someone on the phone about sabotaging the new project coming up soon so that you would take all the credit. Instead, you were…shopping on a furniture site?
“I don’t need another bookcase, or it’ll look too cluttered. I can’t get any more potted plants either. I’ve already done enough renovations here to make it cozy and relaxing. What about…a salt thingy? What’s it called?” You typed a few words in the search engine, [Eye Color] irises brightening in realization. “Oh right, Himalayan salt lamp! That’s not a terrible price for this one! And yarn. I need more yarn to complete that gift for Caretaker Lee’s birthday. Speaking of which, I could work on that tonight. Give my eyes a break from staring at screens all damned day.” You scooted over to the edge of the bed, pulling one drawer outward. You then reached inside, removing knitting needles, yarn and dark red clumps of something. You put on headphones and began to knit.
You, the proud and arrogant Park Seo-yun, was knitting.
You didn’t move from that spot at all, completely focused on your project when a knock came from the bedroom door. A fleeting, fearful look appeared on your face before you frantically shoved all of your materials back in the drawer, sputtering to wait one moment that you weren’t decent before putting on a bored expression, scrolling through your phone and reclining back like a lazy cat. You told them to come in, and an elderly woman in an apron walked in with a wooden tray filled with assorted foodstuff, carefully setting it down on one of the ottomans.
“Thank you for preparing my midnight snack, Caretaker Lee. I’m sorry it’s been such an inconvenience while I’m reviewing these documents for tomorrow.” You said with a smile. Caretaker Lee shook her head, walking over to your bed. You scooted over so she wouldn’t fall over the edge (presumably, because this entire situation is bizarre to Yeo Jung-Hwa), and she sat down. She smiled down at you, stroking the top of your head.
“This humble one is honored to serve the Park family, especially the hard-working young miss. It cannot be easy, with the current circumstances. Young miss…please forgive me for speaking outright…but are you certain about going through with this engagement? It seems that you have never spent any time with him outside of working at his conglomerate, and any time he has is spent with someone else.”
Yeo Jung-Hwa expected you to hit her, to punish Caretaker Lee for speaking out of turn and to mind her own business. Instead, you stared at her for a long moment, wide-eyed and mouth slightly parted…before your lips curled into a melancholy smile, eyes softening.
“I thank you for your concern, Caretaker Lee. But this is an engagement between my father and the conglomerate’s predecessor. It’s not something that can be broken off so easily with benefits for both parties.” You said. “This is the price to be part of the elite. To sacrifice your happiness for the sake of business.” You then leaned forward, pulling Caretaker Lee into a hug. “It’ll be okay, really. I’m Park Seo-yun. I can take care of myself. And you should be in bed. You’ve got a long drive to see your grandchildren tomorrow morning. Enjoy the weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday.”
“But-”
“I’ll bring the tray down the kitchen when I’m finished.”
“Miss-”
“Nope.”
You then shooed her out of the room, telling Caretaker Lee to send your mother a text as soon as she got to her destination. The old woman smiled sheepishly, wishing you good night and asked you to not stay up too late. Once she was out of the room and the door was closed, you walked back to the bed, shoulders sagging and suddenly looking incredibly tired before you fell face first onto the blankets, legs dangling from the edge. You remained like that for a moment, then picked yourself up and curled up your lower body, grabbing one of the blankets and putting it over your legs. You retrieved your hidden supplies, resuming your knitting, taking five minute breaks in between to eat from the tray. Three more hours passed until you decided to call it a night, blowing out the candles and switching the fairy lights to a lower setting before disappearing into the bathroom. You came back out, grabbed the tray, and vanished.
This isn’t real. It can’t be real. You are a haughty, greedy woman who could care less about commoners, much less servants. You love shopping at boutiques and only want the best of the best in anything. Even in an arranged marriage. He could never be happy with someone like you.
But is all of that true? A nasty little voice in the back of Yeo Jung-Hwa’s mind hissed. Those were rumors created by other women who weren’t pleased that they weren’t good enough to marry you. Park Seo-yun is a stranger to you. You never bothered to know nor care to. Why would you when you have someone you love, Hyeung Mun-Hee?
He didn’t need to, and the fact that he wanted to know the truth about you of all people terrified him. He’s not supposed to care, not to be curious or even concerned about your well-being. This was a strategic engagement, not one born out of mutual affection. He has a role to play in this world after all.
Three weeks had passed since he had the cameras installed, and all Yeo Jung-Hwa had discovered or even learned is that you were a completely different person in your home than at the office.
You work Monday through Fridays, always on time and never staying late unless it was necessary. You returned to your family estate late on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays because there was a spinning class at the company gym after your shift on those days. Friday evenings were spent in either your room, holed up and completely focused on knitting or doing something else that helped relax you. If you were staying up late, the servants would provide a midnight snack for you. The portions increased on the days you were at the gym, alluding that you possessed an enormous appetite due to a high metabolism instead of being a glutton as Hyeung Mun-Hee has told him time and time again. You talked to yourself when you were alone, or at least your thoughts before making a decision on something. When he remotely hacked into your laptop to see if he could find any evidence of foul play there, he saw your browsing history contained only decoration aesthetics ideas, healthier snacks to eat at night, local beginner yoga instructors, and shopping at small businesses on Crafty plus one or two high-end boutiques for business casual outfits. Nothing incriminating on any level whatsoever. But he was not going to let you off of the hook that easily.
At work he ignored you entirely, focusing his attention on Hyeung Mun-Hee and blocked your calls so that he didn’t have to talk to you outside of business hours. There was not a single text message or voicemail from you on his cellphone when he unblocked your number yesterday morning after coming into the office. Understandably frustrated and cranky from a lack of proper sleep, he decided to change the deadline for the quarterly income statements and the inspections of the company’s financial software, including reinforcing the firewalls and ensuring there was no fraudulent activity in the company’s transactions to Monday morning.
With this amount of work, he was absolutely certain that it would be your slip-up. That you’d push your assigned tasks to Hyeung Mun-Hee so you could keep working on your knitting projects. Today is Saturday, and you left your house at seven o’clock to go to the office. You stayed awake until midnight typing away on your company laptop, looking over spreadsheets while talking to the head of IT on speaker, arranging a test run on the firewalls on Sunday evening.
Instead of helping the team prepare for everything to be finished at the beginning of the week, Hyeung Mun-Hee was sitting across from him inside a coffee shop, beaming and utterly happy that they were finally out on a date after not being on one for so long, she was getting worried about him. Well…perhaps. Yeo Jung-Hwa glanced down at the shopping bags by their feet. They had gone to trendy high end streets and luxury department stores earlier this morning, with Hyeung Mun-Hee desiring…no, more like insisting that she had at least eight new work outfits so that she would represent his company properly as a team member of the Finance Department.
If that’s true, then why are you here using my black card to shop instead of working at the office? He thought behind a smile as his supposed lover’s words went from one ear and out the other. If you were here with him, he’d probably have been more accepting of indulging in your vices and insisting on paying for everything instead of you, even when you were just as wealthy as he is.
“I’m sure that you will find out why Park Seo-yun is acting so suspiciously!” Hyeung Mun-Hee said in a hushed voice. “I can’t believe you are even associated with such a vile person. She can’t get away with talking down to others like that! She may be rich, but she doesn’t know how to truly appreciate what she has right now!” She giggled. “It’s funny, isn’t it? She has everything, but she still clings to your engagement like a sad puppy! If she truly loves you, then she should have convinced her father to call everything off so that you can be happy. But the rich think differently I guess, right?”
His smile tightened. “Perhaps.” He said, languidly sipping the java chip mocha frappuccino that she bought for him even though he preferred to have his coffee black with no sugar and he’s told her this little tidbit many times. “She is extravagant, but you also have luxurious taste, Hyeung Mun-Hee.”
He watched her eyes widen in surprise and embarrassment, sputtering for a moment before she asked. “W-What are you saying, Yeo Jung-Hwa? You know me! If I had been given a choice to meet up, I would have chosen the downtown area so you could try the street vendors I’ve been talking about!”
And risk my health by getting food poison from reused cooking oil, poorly washed utensils, and ingesting noodles that are too greasy or salty? Absolutely not. He thought with slight irritation.
“Maybe, but we both know that we must be discreet in our interactions, as I’ve told you before. That’s why I suggested we come here, but instead of sampling delicious foods at the restaurants I recommended, you wanted to come here instead after shopping. If I remember correctly, your department is supposed to be presenting a big project on Monday. Why are you here, shopping to your hearts’ content instead of being at the office and helping out the team?”
“W-Why should I be there?” Hyeung Mun-Hee countered, bolting up from her seat as she stared at him in shock. “If I go there, Park Seo-yun will harass me! I can’t work in an environment like that! I did those seminars she told me to do and passed the tests! Can’t I enjoy a day off?!” Fat tears began to build up behind her hazel eyes. “I’ve been working hard enough!”
But you are the one who is putting in the overtime needed to finish the job. You are leading the team to do what needs to be done. Hyeung Mun-Hee is just enjoying the perks of being by his side. Have you eaten lunch yet? Perhaps he can stop by somewhere that allows take-out and bring some to your office under the excuse that he needs to get some work done as well. Dinner too, perhaps?
“ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME, YEO JUNG-HWA?!”
He glared at her. “Sit down, Hyeung Mun-Hee.” He hissed, displeased that her shrill voice had attracted unwanted attention from customers who were either sitting at tables or waiting on orders to finish up at the pick-up area. “Finish your drink, and take a taxi back to the city, to your home.”
“It’s still early in the day, we haven’t been out in a while!”
“And I’m tired from the shopping. I don’t need to see what you bought because I already have seen them all at the shops.” He replied tersely. “I need to stop by the office and take care of a few things before I go home.”
Hyeung Mun-Hee’s face is a dark shade of purple. Consumed by anger, her mouth hung open, on the brink of another explosive tantrum, as the coffee shop door swung open, exposing its next patron. You.
You stepped up to the pick-up area, looking at the various drinks with a pensive expression before waving down a barista. “Excuse me.” You said. “I’m here to pick up a mobile order for several drinks under Park. When will they be ready? I need to hurry back to the office with caffeine for my employees or things are going to get ugly.” The handbag hung from your wrist as you fished out your phone, presumably showing the online order to the young man. He looked at you before smiling at you.
“We’ll have it done in just a moment, ma’am.”
Is it wrong for Yeo Jung-Hwa to desire the bright smile you gave to that insignificant commoner when you did not know he was here with Hyeung Mun-Hee?
