The thing about microchipping, this is from my friend (her dog got lost and was microchipped), the chip is only useful when the dog gets to a shelter. There is no way for you to get the gps location of her dog if not picked up by a vet or shelter. Do some research and find out what works for you and your family and dog!
Yeah, I know how they work lol I work in a shelter, which is why in my post, I said I was worried no one would be able find him, catch him, and get him to a vet or shelter to be scanned. He wears a collar and tags, but again, that would assume someone would be able to catch him without being mangled, and I do mean mangled. He is not afraid to use his claws or bite. But all that aside, microchips don’t actually function as well as we’re always led to believe. They go bad, they reject, they migrate, sometimes they just fall out. Even if we went through the trouble of getting it done, there’s no guarantee the damn thing would do us any good in any way.
I think what works best for us, is just that my roommates stop leaving the damn door open :\ We’ve had this cat for eight years with no issues until now. How hard is it to make sure a door latches when you push it shut? But they grew up with indoor/outdoor cats and they just don’t seem to think it’s that big of a deal.
