Title : Howl’s Moving Castle
Author : Diana Wynne Jones
Themes : Youth, Fate, Love, Courage
Mini Summary : The story of a young woman and her discovery of a world outside of her own home. Full of magical twists and adventure.
Opinion Piece : I loved this book. One of my absolute favorites. Some parts near the end get a bit confusing but it doesn’t take away from the whimsical feel of the whole. I’ve reread this book many, MANY, times without getting bored. Every character has their flaws but those flaws make them even more lovable. Jones writes rich scenery and funny dialogue. I’d recommend this story to those who look for unconventional fairy tales, odd romance, dashing love interests, and quirky side characters.
“Interesting things did seem to happen, but always to somebody else.”
“It is quite a risk to spank a wizard for getting hysterical about his hair.”
Rating : 9.5/10 Only because I had to reread the ending several times in order to try and keep up with all the chaos. (it was fun chaos)
PG - Perfectly safe for kids to read. Nothing inappropriate. For those who love romance without all the awkward sex scenes.
