I didn't post much in 2019 since life was a bit busy, but that doesn't mean I wasn't crafting then. This is one of the tops that I made and designed (and frogged, and remade, and frogged, and remade again 🐸🐸🐸). It turned out to be an experiment that I learned a lot from. I had wanted to try my hand at making a top, but didn't really know where to start. This ended up being a top down piece, with each cup and the upper back worked flat separately and then joined in the round later for the bodice. A large part of the frustration and remakes were due to me not knowing how to properly size the pattern (still working on that honestly), as well as not properly swatching to make sure I was on track.
But, because of this project, I learned about making uniform leaning increases and decreases in knitting, using charts to track the pattern instead of written notes, AND (probably most importantly) that I've been doing twisted purls since I started knitting 🤦♀️I've since corrected that in my knitting, but its very visible in comparing the flat parts to the in the round components.
According to my notes, I started this on 6/14 and "finished" on 9/29. I've been experimenting lately with a bottom to top version lately, and this will like be redone a 4th time in the near future. Looking forward to making that glow up!
