Samba T: The Bio (@thaprodigalson)
This prolific emcee has been on the African hip-hop scene as far back as it began being recognized in Botswana. He started off performing at high school talent shows, and thus the love for the music grew on this gifted artist and has stayed with him since.
1999 saw the formation of first hip-hop group that SAMBA-T belonged to known as “NSL”-NAZBALYT, which comprised of four members all of which exuded individual, raw, unadulterated musical talent. But as is the situation with all forms of talent, when undirected/managed and nurtured it rarely manifests into self made success. This however was only the beginning of big things.
2001 brought forth a window of opportunity in the form of the ‘Sprite Rap Activity Jam’ hosted by now national Botswana radio station Yarona Fm. In this competition SAMBA-T excelled to great heights, out doing a handful of other talented local acts to end up at the semi finals of the competition where he met fellow artist and good friend Game ‘ZEUS’ Bantsi. These two met and formed the trio KZS with rapper Kebaswele ‘KEB’ Kebaswele.
An album was recorded at which unfortunately never saw release. The album did however get rave reviews by fellow artists and listeners who were lucky enough to hear it, one of which was ‘HHP’. Upon HHP hearing the studio material HHP roped in Samba for his release YBA to NORTH WEST on the track “We built this city” and his following release ACCEPTANCE SPEECH on the track “Leloko la lekoko”. A talented artist on the rise!
