In honor of my Veggieversary/Half Birthday:
How long have you been vegetarian? 1 year :D
When did you become vegetarian? I didn't take down the specific day, but it was definitely mid-late march. I decided to celebrate it on my Half Birthday, so here we are!
What were your eating habits like before becoming vegetarian? I was a pescetarian for a few months to segway into vegetarianism. I think it really made for a seamless transition.
What did your family think? They thought it was hilarious at first and they were very eager to see me fail. Which just made me that much more determined. ;p
Have you had any resistance from friends or family? I had to endure a lot of snide comments before they accepted it. My mom came around much more quickly than I anticipated and I've even inspired her to cook healthier. My friends still make fun of/tease me.
Is it hard not eating meat? Not at all for me, but I didn't like anything other than chicken/fish to begin with. It honestly feels so right as if I've been doing it forever. I will say that Chemo put a strain on me being a vegetarian (like it did with a lot of things). I'm lucky I had an understanding doctor who encouraged me, unlike my hospital staff. Even when my wbc's and iron levels were really low, I stuck with it and opted for an all natural iron supplement made of nature's finest beets to help me out just a bit haha.
What are some of your favourite foods? I really love falafels, broccoli, spinach, and beans omg beans.
What are your favourite treats? Pistachios forever!! And fruit/bread with nutella. All hail nutella.
Do you spend more or less of food since being vegetarian or vegan? I haven't taken spending into account particularly. I can say that I am more conscious of portion size, ingredients, and stuff like that not by choice but by default due to my vegetarianism.
Will you raise your children (if applicable) vegetarian? I'll get there when I get there with whoever I get there with :)
