That book I found is... strange. I hardly understand it at points, but there's a lot of enlightening information in it. I've been picking through it slowly, and I've already seen a few of the things Fr. Thomas told me repeated here, but most interesting so far was this:

"Curiously, while all of these techniques have effectiveness against Lycanthropy, there are actually several types of werewolf. The distinction largely comes down to origin and self-control. Some are born, some are made. Some are mindless beasts, some are tame as pups.

Most commonly, Lycanthropy is a curse that mimics a disease. The exact origins of the original curse-bearer are highly debated, but its thought that there are several "strains" and that all werewolves of this type could trace back to only a handful of individuals.

But more interestingly, some werewolves are born with Lycanthropy. These type tend to maintain a higher level of self control and consciousness during shifts, and may have more precise control over their physical appearance. They are often deeply reverent of the moon, in contrast to the rage felt by cursed werewolves. Born lycanthropes typically do not come into contact with humans, preferring to live amongst their own communities."

It goes into more detail later, but just these few paragraphs got my mind reeling. Something in it sounds so familiar....
