Day 30: With each day that passes of this coming year, my heart will steadily beat. How can I increase the capacity of my inner heart to accept and give more love this year? Ten of Swords

OKAY. Not the card I expected, and these songs are WAY too upbeat for this. The worst has happened. You’re still suffering from the wounds. But it’s beyond time to pick up the pieces. Think of yourself as a wounded healer. The storm has passed. You can awaken again. Don’t be afraid to put something out of its misery. You’ll be amazed by how free you feel. Love requires inner strength. It is okay to pass through things alone, but remember to lean on the people who love you if you become overrun.

Day 22 - Summer often brings turbulent storms that destroy crops and storehouses…. How might I best prepare to deal with life’s storms and moments of inevitable, extreme changes?

The Wheel - I need to accept that change can occur at any time and be willing to go with it rather than fighting it. Sometimes changes are destined to happen and no amount of resistance will make a difference. Not all change is negative, and if I am willing to embrace said change, there is a higher probability that the change will be positive and beneficial.

6 of Chalices - If the change I face is difficult and I am struggling to cope or adjust, there is nothing wrong with accepting help or kindness from others if it is offered. A small bit of assistance may be enough to make the change bearable or even enjoyable.

Balance, balance, balance...

((I’m a day late on posting this because I got caught up in a binge watching session of The Magicians, but I did take this picture yesterday. I highly recommend the show!))

I have been getting some really strong readings lately. I hate that feeling when you keep seeing the same cards and the same message... it’s like a warning sign but it’s in a language you don’t understand. You can decipher bits and pieces but your own ego and self awareness holds you back from truly making sense of the sign’s real meaning. I feel the meaning, I feel the massage deep inside me but I can’t bring it to light...like a word that’s on the tip of your tongue but just won’t roll off. It makes you question everything and all you can do is wait till you have more information.

The Year Ahead Tarot Challenge, Day 17 The warmer weather and the sun promise new life. What seed(s) do I need to plant in the garden of mySelf to bring me happiness and abundance this year? (Knight of Cups reversed, The Magician reversed, 6 of Cups) At first glance I had no idea how these reversed cards could contribute to a positive year, but then I remembered that to have true happiness, I must have a balance of the good and bad. The Knight especially reminds me that life is complete when you have moments of sadness and joy; it's more than okay to have a variety of moods, as long as I resist the urge to let them define or control me. The Magician has so many tools and skills available, but he can't or isn't using them as he is. I know perfectly well that I am a perfectionist who hates coming across as a beginner, even though I realize that's an unhealthy mindset and everyone was a beginner at some point. If I want to improve, I need to do these things and be open to critique. The 6 is still telling me to enjoy the little things, especially about myself. I've always had a wide variety of interests; and while there isn't enough time in this life to be an expert at all of them, there's absolutely no need to give them up. Much better to embrace them and take pleasure in the quirks that have distinguished me for years, especially as I grow. Tied into that last is something which I don't feel applies just to me, and maybe someone else is supposed to hear it: You don't have to dismantle who you were to become who you are meant to be.

The Year Ahead Tarot Challenge Day 5: Winter's cold harvests the summer's remnants for new growth in the spring. What is something I should leave behind so that new growth can take place in the coming months? "You worry to much about everyone else and helping with their problems. Its time to focus on you now. You have your own issues to take care of."

Year Ahead Challenge: Day Nine Q) The hearth offers solace and warmth. How might I allow myself moments of comfort throughout the year to renew my spirits and realign my intentions? A) I cannot lie to myself whenever I need comfort, and if I stick to the truth, I should be able to stick with my intentions. I shouldn't have to come up with scenarios to scare or comfort me when things may go wrong.

Year Ahead Tarot: Day 12

The first Full Moon of the new year. What mysteries do her beams bring to light? What can I do to best prepare for the unknown in the year before me?

So this reading went a little unexpectedly, which really couldn’t be more fitting given the question. The impression I get from this spread is almost like it’s answering a different question. Really, what I think it’s telling me is that I am indeed getting married this year:

Queen of Cups

My fiance, the Queen of my heart. Besides being my counterpart, she’s also just an incredibly empathetic and emotionally intelligent person.

Judgement

Judgement represents a moment when all came before is brought forward to be acknowledged, evaluated, and given a verdict. When I see this card flanked by two powerful Cups cards, I cannot think of a more conspicuous interpretation than a wedding ceremony.

And it’s going to be great! This cycle of our relationship shows every sign of ending harmoniously, leading in to the next stage of our life together.

Yet, when I was shuffling the deck, another card jumped out:

V of Pentacles

Common wisdom states that things never go quite as one hopes when planning a wedding. The V of Pentacles here represents all the ways in which plans can grind up against each other, turn out to be way too expensive, or just fall through entirely. When orchestrating an event with this many moving parts, such things are inevitable. However, the overall narrative of the reading contains the real lesson in it: the Problems card pops up on the way to the wedding spread, not within it. Issues will undoubtedly keep presenting themselves as the day draws near, but the ceremony, the connection that I will honer and strengthen, is untouchable.

The World

a practice I employ occasionally is checking the bottom of the deck for additional guidance or a sort of ‘final say’ on the reading. I didn’t even mean to do it here, I just happened to notice the bottom card while I was handling the deck. I can’t ignore The World though, especially when Judgement is also present. As for what it’s telling me, I’m not completely certain. The World must be the most portentous single card in the entire Tarot, and a straightforward interpretation here tells me that it is reiterating the importance of the event depicted in the overall reading. That said, I can’t shake the feeling that I am being given a vague hint that something else Big, and thoroughly unknown, is going to happen to me this year. I may need to do a follow-up reading to investigate this very cryptic card.
