2025 Dolly Year in Review

Yeah I kind of wrote all of these out of order, and am "late" (in internet time) for 2025 wrap-ups. But I don't care; this is my blog -- I do what I want, when it's fun.

2025 recap

This year has been eventful!! I've learned so much, I've grown and, more importantly, I read books and watched shows and movies, and listened to music. So here are my top 3 from each category.

Top 3 books

Catch 22 - I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed this book. I'd talk about it to anyone who would listen, I feel extremely happy when it's mentioned. One of the best war novels and best representation of post-trauma. Also funny and weird

The Book of Love - I love weird books. This was slow, but it was so worth reading and so unique.

The Sunshine Court +The Golden Raven (unfinished series) - I'd love everything set in this world tbh. I love Jean, and I love Jeremy, and I love them together.

Top 3 shows

Severance - what can I say? The show deserves all the hype. It's morally ambiguous, it's unique, and it's entertaining as hell.

The Empress - I love historical fiction and especially the dramatic kind that takes itself seriously.

Cunk On Earth - funny as hell.

Top 3 movies

Small Things Like These - it's been a while since I watched a movie that awed me as much as this one. This is the kind of movie you have to watch in the cinema and I love it for this.

Synecdoche New York - just like I love weird books, I also love weird movies.

Nosferatu - weird movie, very good horror.

Top 3 albums

The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift - I know we're supposed to be showgirls now (and I love the album) but I'm still in the department and I Hate It Here so please change the prophecy.

The Secret of Us by Gracie Abrams - what can I say? A great album, with great melodies and great lyrics.

The Good Witch by Maisie Peters - MP3 when? In the meantime, this is is an absolutely incredible pop album.

2025 Writing Recap

2025 Word Count Total: 350,319!!

I think it's safe to say I had a fantastic year for writing. December I took a much needed break but still managed to write 15k! There's some ups and downs, but I'm still very proud with how well I did.

↳ In 2025, I published a total of 9 fanfics on AO3, that amounted to 305,490 words.

↳ On tumblr, I published 9 oneshots, which amounted to 17,119 words!

↳ My longest streak was 234 days! With my average at 959 words per day.

Anyways, this is my full year in word counts! 🔽

I would like to thank all the friends that I did writing sprints with this year. If not for you all, I wouldn't have been able to do this! I can't wait to see what we all create this new year!

I just updated my pinned post to be the fics/stories I posted in 2025 (see here) and I posted 14 total! A little less than last year but I actually manged to post slightly more words, let's look at the stats.

Seventeen coming out with the biggest word count of the year on account of that being my main regularly updating long fic at the moment! I don't know that it's ever done that before. Followed by phan, which is mostly my dear Stardew AU that I finally managed to finish this year and then a handful of fluffy one shots. Stray Kids is third with a couple epilogues to my big skz wolfpack AU. And then dipping my toes into no less than four new fandoms! That's always neat! And a little original story that I decided should go on my AO3 just for the fun of it.

I posted 309k in 2025. I feel like I've had a hard time focusing on writing lately, but I am still proud of all that I've written this year. And it's nice to see that I at last maintained the volume from the year before.

Here is to hoping that we'll get lots of good writing sessions in the new year! I am hopeful and excited to write more stories, and it's kind of open playland now with just one ongoing wip. I'm excited to see where the year takes me!
