Checking in on this to-do list... I've definitely made some progress, and definitely stalled out. So I'm restarting! Copying down below the ones that are still to-be-done, with commentary. Most of what remains are things that I haven't done before or don't have a good plan of how to move forward. Rambly rambles after the cut.
Hair

It's summer and blazingly hot where I live, so now would be a good time to do hair stuff. It'll dry out quickly in the summer sun. I have the yellow dye for Lola's hair, so I'll start there. If I can get that done, I'll buy blue RIT for Daphne. Mellie's afro has been like a year+ in the making; it just takes five-ever to wrap the hair around the bobby pins, and I inevitably get hand pain from it. Maybe I could just...cut some of her hair plug out and 'fro fewer plugs? The volume of the afro should cover the bare patches. But I don't want to ruin Mellie...hmm.
Face-up
Purchase: possibly some more paint colors

💜Chompy teeth on Lagoona (maybe)
[completed 7/18] I've done a bit more painting, so I feel pretty confident about doing Vanessa's lip repaint. Just need to select the colors and go for it. I may or may not do plating on Gilly's face; depends on how "robot" I want her to lean. I want big anglerfish or piranha style teeth on Lagoona, but I am definitely not confident in my ability to do it.
Accessories

Sunny's platforms will be easy enough; need to strip my previous attempt off. Twyla's stilts are in process of being printed by a friend. The jeep hubcaps...the jeep was a fun project for a while, but honestly, I may just let the whole thing go. I don't like big doll props, and I haven't pulled out the jeep in over a year. The big leg fins for Lagoona, I hope to make out of some plastic doll packaging and slot them in like her normal fins.
Clothes

Ahhh, here are the juicy bits. By which I mean the hard things that I mostly have no idea how to do. Some of my hesitation to Go For It is perfectionism (though I've been working hard at unlearning that), and some of it is limited time and ability with my chronically-ill body. I don't want to "waste" time if things aren't going to work out. But the only way to learn new skills is to, well, learn: try, fail, try again.
So with all that: [completed 7/17] Venus' vines will just take painting. I need to mix up a shade of green that I like and then it'll be straightforward. I've done a fair amount of detailing by this point. I may or may not to the staple mods to my OG Frankie; but I've done it once and know I can do it again. I think i bought holographic tattoos for Gilly? Similar to the face plating mod above, I need to decide where on the robot/alien continuum she falls. G3 Lagoona, I just desperately want her to be blue. I've seen people achieve it, but I really don't have the skills to repaint her face. I may try taping off the face paint on my practice Goona and painting the body/head around the tape.
The RH hand mod shouldn't be too hard, it's more of an experiment than anything else. I'll get my practice RH, heat up her hand, and attempt to reshape it slightly. The eye mech, that's a whole 'nother level. Step 1 for that will be to measure the OMG head and distance between the eyes, and step 2 is to pick out a rocking eye mechanism and order it. Not too much fear of failure here, just fear of "wasting" money on something that doesn't work XD The OMG dolls are a dime a dozen, at least.
And then there's the sculpting. Which I have no background in and little skill at. I really love the idea of a third eye for EVA -- it'd give her that classic alien look. But I'm also terrified of screwing it up and ruining my doll. [Video found! Link] Step 1: See if I can find any vids/blogs/tutorials of people adding another eye to a RH doll. Step 2: Ponder. On the other hand, I'm less worried about ruining Morra the mermaze doll; she's a lovely thing, but I'm not as emotionally attached to her. The goal is to get the torso and up of the mermaze doll apoxie sculpted onto one of those fidget worms, and then her big tail fin attached to the end. It'll be a "mess around and find out" kind of project.
