Your hands slowly worked their way up his back, eventually gliding their way into his soft stands of hair.

Fingers carding through the locks, you take in every sign and deep exhale made. A quiet look of content on his face. Eyes falling closed and breathing evening. Continuing your pace you still any other moment, he hasn’t been sleeping lately. Hopefully he can rest.

After a while of softly brushing, your nails scratch over his scalp causing a sudden shuttered breath. As quickly as you started that you stopped. You later swear you must have imagined that soft sign of disappointment.

Time seemed to disappear when you had him close like this. Had it been hours? minutes? days? Who knew. But not a single part of you cared. It was as if life only existed in this quiet moment.

Eventually sleep won the battle and you lay there, your lover in your arms.
