It’s too loud in his head and the coming storm isn’t helping anything but Keith’s eyes are transfixed on the beauty rolling in like a tidal wave. Vast and fierce and in the blink of an eye, two eyes, he’s drenched to the bones and smiling so wide the whole of Texas would be proud of him.

Somewhere behind him he hears someone shouting his name, words muffled by the patter of water against his shoulder and, shivering and slothlike, he turns to see what he thinks is Shiro standing in the hospital’s walkway shouting at him from under the awning. He mouths something, or maybe he’s shouting, he can’t even tell himself right now but its carried away on the gale blasting across the desert.
