I live in New York City, and I saw a news article this past week about decapitated chickens found on a Long Island beach. The article said it was a ritual to Yemaya. I know some ATRs involve animal sacrifice but are they usually left in public places? I was just wondering since I think the cops had been called in this case?
To my knowledge, it’s not at all normal for ebo (animal sacrifice) in orisha traditions to be left out in public, but sure things like this do happen from time to time. It’s illegal to litter, but animal sacrifice for religious purposes is fully protected by the law in the United States.
