Fluff 13 for Taang ready set go
Here I am being a sap again. Lol thanks for the ask G.
......
Taang - Fluff - #13 - “I didn’t think it was possible to love someone this much.”
Aang couldn’t stop staring.
He just could not take his eyes off the little bundle he held tenderly in his arms.
It was an odd feeling, holding his newborn. His daughter. Cradling her was more difficult than he anticipated, and while she seemed frighteningly fragile and tiny, his daughter was a sturdy baby.
The baby whined, and tried to break free of the blanket she was swaddled in. But Aang readjusted her, swiped his finger over her little chubby cheek, and soothed the baby back to sleep.
Strange, how the tiny human in Aang’s arms was only hours old, but he felt like he knew her all his life. He wouldn’t hesitate to take on a whole army for her. Spirits, even though he was a pacifist, he’d wage war on anyone that harmed her.
And she didn’t even have a name yet.
He had no idea what she’d be like when she was older.
Despite those facts, Aang was absolutely and unequivocally in love.
He felt the pressure, sure. The pressure to be a good—hopefully great—father, the pressure to raise her to be a better person than he ever was, and the pressure to keep her safe all lingered over the airbender.
But it was worth it, though, because she was perfect. He loved her so much, and he thought it wasn’t possible to love any more in the world than he already had. Then she came along and completely readjusted the earth he stood on.
It was a humbling experience and realization, becoming a father.
And none of it would’ve been possible if it weren’t for her. She made the choice to be with him, to take this next leap in their life with him, and she gave him the greatest gift in the entire world.
Aang was absolutely and unequivocally in love with her, too.
Huh. Two people to love wholeheartedly. He didn’t realize it was even possible until now.
His wife, who was currently using his shoulder and arm as a pillow, stirred in her spot and woke up for a moment.
She could feel his heart racing and she gently nudged him to get his attention. Toph mumbled, “What’s up?”
Aang tried to even his breathing just so he could speak. When his heart calmed down ever so slightly, he whispered, “I just… I didn’t think it was possible to love someone this much.”
Toph breathed out a laugh. “I told you. A lot to take in.”
“I know, but I don’t just mean her.”
Toph frowned into his arm. “What do you mean?”
Aang smiled and kissed the top of her head. “With you.
“I wouldn’t be a father if it weren’t for you. And you made the choice to give me the most amazing gift in the world. And I just—”
He let out a shaky breath, and leaned his head on top of hers. “I didn’t know I could love you more than I already do. And now I love her just the same, and she’s amazing, and you’re amazing. And I’m so in love. With both of you.
“But love isn’t a strong enough word, but that’s all I have to describe it.”
Aang practically said it all in one breath, but once he finished, he let out a deep sigh, and Toph chuckled at him. She slowly brought her hand over to the bundle in Aang’s arms and rubbed her thumb over the baby’s forehead.
“Good, because I feel the same way."
