a last note on the yjj drama. if u wanna excuse ur fanfictions as coping with ur trauma like. ok but what about the blatant homophobia and racism??? y’all gonna defend that too or
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

@yesjejunus drew my man because I was craving that minteral.
I was also too excited to shove this in literally everyone's face rather than save it for a meta post. Ah well
Anyway, here's the cooler Daniel, my boy Contreras.
My entire experience with the YJJ situation
“God watch over you on your journey back to the Mojave,” he said before stepping aside Yes Man and finally exiting through the hole in the wall. Joan stared at his back as he left. She promised herself that this wasn’t the end.
—Learnin’ the Blues, Part 4: Arizona, Chapter 11.
I’ve been busy on my hiatus from @ikroah.
As you may or may not already know, @yesjejunus is reuploading his novel-length Fallout: New Vegas/Fallout 4 fanfic Learnin’ the Blues” to AO3 starting today, with one chapter per day until it’s done. Before you go scurrying off to read along, let me advise you to take the content warnings very seriously. It’s an excellent, touching, meaningful story but at parts it’s very graphic, intense, and harrowing. It might not be for you if that sentence alone makes your hackles raise. Also if you are interested and haven’t read it yet, well, sorry for the spoiler (but you should still read it! It’s good!).
Anyway, speaking of meaning, the reason for this comic is that long before he even decided to reupload the story, he came to me with a request: to adapt this particular scene from Learnin’ the Blues into a comic (this actually wouldn’t even be the first time I’ve done this, but that first time was of my own volition). This scene is profoundly important to the story and to him, and it was sincerely an honor to be trusted, to be specifically trusted as both an artist and a friend, with handling it. Besides, he’s done art for a scene in my story that means a lot to me before, so of course I wanted to return the favor. I’m very proud of my work—our work—and of calling him my friend.
Anyway, as an added bonus, here’s some practice sketches of Joan for the scene. She’s actually really difficult to draw, given how extreme her proportions are. She risks looking overly stylized next to everyone else unless you get them just right. But of course, that distinct appearance is part of why I like her so much.
And finally, as a fun aside, compared to how YJJ originally wrote this scene, I actually had to take a few liberties and make a few changes for my own version to make it work better as a short comic. As a visual medium, you lose the constant internal narration afforded by prose, so you have to convey things in other ways. Once the original chapters go back up on AO3, a no-prize goes to the first fallout-lou-begas superfan who can spot every difference!
