[After about an hour of working, Varian ran tests on the final drops of solution, knowing this was his last chance. The sun was beginning to peak in the sky, welcoming the dawn. It had been a very eventful day.]
Last chance...this has to work, I know it can.
[Varian looks over his measurements and calculations one more time to make sure everything was in position. He took a deep breath and poured the rest of the solution into his apparatus. He watched as the drops filtered through into the beaker. It took a while, but the last drop finally dropped in. Varian waited for a second and then another but there was no explosion. He looked at the new, indigo colored solution, and then back at his predictions. They were identical.]
*whispering*
I...I think I did it...
[Varian carefully poured part of the solution into a vial and looked at it in awe.]
I just hope it works.
