According to insider Elliotte Friedman, the Colorado Avalanche were believed to be players for Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. During Monday’s edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Friedman discussed how the Avalanche looked into landing the former Vezina Trophy winner. Hellebuyck’s name has been out there, with the Buffalo Sabres being one of the teams most linked to the 32-year-old. But it was certainly surprising to hear that the Avalanche could have been players for Hellebuyck. “I had a couple of teams say to me they wondered if Colorado took a shot at Connor Hellebuyck…. I don’t know how that could work. I don’t know what they could offer… There were a couple of teams that suspected the Avalanche kind of considered it.”

Hi Av lb….so I clearly dipped out for a bit. Tbh, life hit hard and loosing the way they did hit harder than I expected. (For weeks I couldn’t even listen to Blink or Fate of Ophelia…)

Idk…I knew the PT curse was a THING but I really thought they had it this year. And then to loose like they did to Vegas of all teams…I really thought I might never be able to come back. I just love this team so much…I really think they’re one of the best I’ve seen in my life time-definitely the best since the 98/00 Avs…and with the Olympics going to the US and the shitty parts of this sport just getting shittier…and then to consider that this was it for this team…something inside me just broke.

AAAAND THEN Val was traded so….

HOWEVER because of his off ice issues both with Seattle situation, & the coke problem - even with Seattle pd clearing him (idk if legally ok, that was still not a good situation whatsoever or one i want any player on my teams involved with) & like the addiction issues yea he’s sober now from what we know, he has failed drug tests in the past & been suspended

I think it is a bit of a gamble for any team to take him on, so I don’t think we’d get the full amount that he’s worth as a top 6 physical forward on paper yknow. & hes off our team which is all that matters to me

i fear we don’t talk enough about gabriel “i raised this kid well” landeskog and nathan “swedish papa” mackinnon. nate was gabe’s rookie and gabe has been his one and only captain, they’ve been on the same team for over a decade, we know from mel that nate spends a lot of time at the landeskog house, nate’s happier about gabe’s goals than any of his own, he always believed in gabe coming back, gabe missed nate the most during the olympic break and recognizes nate’s amazing leadership and “yeah, i can make him laugh plenty”

we don’t talk enough about how instrumental gabe was for nate’s development and the impact he’s had on him. they love each other so much 🥺

something something peter forsberg was gabe’s fave player growing up and had a poster of the 2001 stanley cup avs and nate’s fave was joe sakic and he wrote down that he wanted to be an av—something something they were always meant to be avs and destined to meet

i cant stop thinking about nick "selke winner" suzuki. years and years of people shitting on habs fans for saying he's a 1C, years of people saying he's overrated, years of people pretending he's just not good enough to be at the helm of this team.

that nick suzuki winning the selke and winning it by a fucking landslide. 1726 points for him and 151 1st place. the second highest guy was at 467 points with 10 first place votes.

that is fucking crazy.

only the 4th player in the history of the selke to win it with 100+ points, topped only sergei fucking fedorov and doug fucking gilmour.

and doing it all while being one of the few men of colour in this league and being the captain of the montreal canadiens. wow. wow wow wow.
