Yirgacheffe Latte Double Shot by iBrew

Review of a birthday gift I received from Tkan & her husband.

I had to Google what Yirgacheffe was bcos I had no idea. Yirgacheffe is a region in Ethiopia where coffee beans thrive! Its climate, elevation, & other conditions are very well suited for growth of beans & so basically, it’s a famous region that Ethiopian beans originate from. I also read somewhere that bcos of its high elevation, the beans generally have a citrus / berry tone to them.

Sides of the box - medium roast =/ NGL, I was a little . .. not disappointed, but like .. you know, I like dark roasts. Just a preference!

So much writing :O the important thing is: they were #1 from 2016-19 for the Korean Consumer Satisfaction Index (ie: Korean love them; them as in the brand iBrew).

Ooooooh the individual packaging is so sleek! Omgg I’m in love! The individual sticks were in this matte black packaging & it feels so good lol

The “open” end was very easy to open.

That looks like a lot of milk/cream powder content o_O

Added 100mL boiling water, & stirred well.

The aroma was actually very light. Some instant coffees, as soon as you open the pack / before you even add water, you can smell strong coffee scent. This Yirgacheffe double shot was very mild throughout. Even as I was stirring, it didn’t smell ‘strong’, you know what I mean?

The flavour . .. haha they asked me this too bcos they wanted to know. I described it with the following:

“mellow, velvety, comforting, harmonious, unassuming... safe choice”

It was very easy to consume, as in the mouth feel was soft & pleasant. In my opinion, is like a “for everyone” type of drink - for those who don’t normally drink coffee, for those who do drink coffee but not into the dark/smoky coffee, beginner coffee drinkers testing out the waters looking for an instant coffee... you know?  Hence I started using personality trait terms. It’s a crowd-pleaser haha it’s not harsh, not strong, calm XD it’s not full of light & bright energy, & it’s not blunt & bold.

TBH I’m not the biggest fan of it. From an instant coffee perspective, it’s unexciting with no real character. Some instant coffees, as you know, are more sweet (those 3-in-1 kinds), while others are black espressos. I actually would prefer the sweet ones over this Yirgacheffe double shot. I generally don’t like lattes to begin with so being a medium roast latte . .. noo.... sorry!

Ethiopian Aricha and Timor-Leste Atsabe, Flight Coffee

Got these from Flight Coffee a couple of weeks ago! I think the first single origin filter coffee I ever tried at home was also a Yirgacheffe (back in March 2020) which I grew to love, and I don't think I've had one since! So I was pretty happy when I saw Flight Coffee had one, and am enjoying it so far! Haven't opened the one from Timor- Leste yet, but I hope to sometime this week!
