YO CHAPTER 4 IS OUT AND 5 MAYBE SOON 👀👀
the skyrim oc ask game: 11 for yiri, 12 for faelen, 14 for madlen, 18 for llarelis
ahh ty for the ask 🫶🫶 love talking about my skyrim babies
11. If they are a magic user, what is their favorite school of magic? Do they have a natural talent for magic, or does it require diligence and study?
yiri's favourite school of magic is illusion magic, and it is the one she is most skilled in. while adept in destruction magic, she isn't a fan of violence and prefers to either defuse fights or distract enemies from her presence using illusion spells.
she does have natural affinity for magic, one she discovered at quite a young age, but her early lessons with jouane were essential in helping her hone her craft and control it. i think there are mages out there with a greater level of natural talent, but yiri is able to stand out among them thanks to her dedication and diligence.
12. What are their prejudices? What groups have they come to think of as ‘other’? Mages? Nords? Elves? Lollygaggers?
growing up, faelen would hear stories about the Five Year War between the bosmer and the khajiit. many of these came from his father, with faelen's paternal grandfather having fought in the war. as a result of this, i think he had a dislike for the khajiit for quite some time. since leaving valenwood, though, faelen has interacted with all sorts of people from all walks of life -- including khajiit. because of this, i think his anti-khajiit sentiments have softened over time and now he really has no quarrel with them.
he does not care for those who hunt people down over their faith (including the thalmor, obviously, but also including groups that chase daedra worshippers) or immutable aspects of their identity. being a werewolf, he dislikes the vigil of stendarr and the silver hand. with that being said, he fell for a vigilant, so he doesn't view individuals from these groups as inherently bad, though he may think of them as being either naive and misguided or ignorant and backwards.
14. Who is their mentor? Who do they go to most for lessons?
madlen has had several mentors over the course of her life, including @born-potty's OC kai, who taught her about tracking & hunting & all that good stuff. big love 🫶
her mentor in the thieves guild is brynjolf hehe :3c she goes to him with all sorts of stuff and credits much of her success within the guild to him.
someone else she goes to for lessons is maramal -- a little surprising, perhaps, given that she's a thief and a criminal. she is, nonetheless, drawn to mara, and has gone to maramal a number of times over the years for advice, especially (but not only) in matters of love.
18. What is their stance on taking a life? Do they kill without a second thought, in the name of a god or daedra, or do they adhere to pacifism?
llarelis is sooo pro-murder. never mind killing without a second thought, half the time she kills without a first one. she's always been partial to a good stabby stabby, but these days her killings are all in the name of sithis and the night mother, both of whom she reveres. she is big on ritual killings and what not, all done to bring glory to them.
skyrim oc asks
any stranger I choose
“Can I buy you dinner?” Normally Orion would have refused outright, but it was their last night on this space station before they took the stellar train to travel onward. It couldn't possibly hurt to flirt a little longer. After all, Orion was literally never going to see Yiri again.
@inthebrainofalamb and I bring you a delightful illustrated fic of aliens flirting!
Enjoy!
@milkandcooki ITS HER
7, 26, and 36 from that oc list! Any oc you feel like talking about <3
thank you so much!! <3 i'll answer for yiri, as she's my newest character and so the least developed.
7. What non-combat skill do they excel at?
for the most part, yiri is a very regular sort of person with a very regular sort of background; she is one of four children and the only daughter, so when her mother died a few years ago she took on a lot of the household chores. as such, she's pretty good at running a house. cooking, cleaning, caring...--she's got some pretty complicated feelings about all that, but she certainly excels at it.
she comes from a family of farmers, so she's also good at tending to crops and has a way with animals.
for a few years, she learned magic from jouane manette. illusion and alteration are among the schools she is most familiar with.
26. Do they enjoy the cold Skyrim weather?
she does, yes! all in all, she loves life in skyrim. she loves the wildlife, the sweeping landscapes, all of it--and that love extends to the cold. in truth, she does prefer the warmer summer months, but she finds the cold bracing.
36. What is their opinion on draugr?
yiri has yet to face any draugr in battle; she respects them and the role they place, but i think when she comes up against one herself, she won't hesitate to put a firebolt between its eyes! that said, i think she'd probably prefer to leave skyrim's ruins well enough alone and let the dead rest.

3, 4, 7, 15, 16, dealer’s choice of oc(s)!
hiiii!! thank you for the ask :3
3. What are their religious affiliations, and how does their worship (or lack thereof) affect their day-to-day life?
madlen: madlen, like her mother before her, has a healthy respect for kyne; when out hunting, she makes the time to ask for her blessing.
however, being a romantic at heart, she was always more drawn to mara out of all the nine divines. her parents loved each other very much, and often thanked mara for the blessing of their union. that rubbed off a little! with all that being said, she can't exactly steal from people in a mara-honouring way, so her reverence for the goddess doesn't have a massive impact on her day-to-day life.
finally, being a thief, madlen has a respect for nocturnal, too - even more so if we're dealing with a version of madlen that becomes leader of the thieves' guild and joins the nightingales. such an arrangement she would see as more of transactional relationship than a matter of faith or religion.
faelen: - i hadn't really given much thought to faelen's religious beliefs before receiving this ask and it sent me down a massive y'ffre/hircine wormhole lol. i think at one point in his life, faelen lived in valenwood and, as many bosmer do, worshipped y'ffre. i think in particular the storytelling aspect of y'ffre would have appealed to faelen.
during this time, when hunting, he might have asked hircine for luck now and then, but never took it further than that. i think he had a healthy respect for hircine, as well as a fear of him, but also a curiosity he tried to shove down deep inside.
in the end, that curiosity would become too much to bear. faelen became deeply intrigued by hircine as a patron of shapeshifting. this was discovered, and he was warned against pursuing such interests. when he didn't, he was cast out of his clan.
now that he lives in skyrim and is a werewolf within the companions, faelen is now free to worship hircine - and does so diligently.
