I am super super excited for the next entry into the Mildly Eldritch series, and the plan was to get it written this week, or at least make good word count on it (the next fic is a bit complicated, and will be doing a lot of interesting things). Unfortunately, I managed to fuck up the wrist of my dominant hand on Sunday and even typing this little post up feels... how you say... not good.

I don't think I've broken anything. There is no swelling and it mostly just feels like there's a bruise through the middle of my forearm. But I am definitely going to give it as much rest as possible for the next few days to let it heal. Which means not writing or crafting, and instead playing video games (I taught myself to use a computer mouse with my nondominant hand years ago, and that serves me well in such times as these).

Y'all, it might be too early to say but I think the Big Dick Monsters are starting to have an effect? This morning I made a list of the things I hope to complete this week (had the mental energy to make a list) and then... I completed most of it? Already, before dinner on Monday? And not just The Fun Things on the list. In fact, I have completed all but one of the unfun tasks and that one's a phone call (boo, hiss)

I did the laundry. All the laundry. stripped the bed and rotated the mattress and washed the sheets and remade the bed and washed my clothes and folded and put them away and washed all the towels and currently they're still drying out in the sun but I fully expect to have the energy to fold and put those away too once they're dry?

I did the dishes. All the dishes, not just the ones that can go through the dishwasher. All the wooden utensils and other bits and bobs that were sadly accumulating near the sink are washed and ready for use again.

I made myself a batch of yogurt so I can eat delicious homemade yogurt all week, and it will shortly be emerging from the instant pot.

I did all these things and I still have energy to make a nice dinner. I'm excitedly planning fun meals for the rest of the week.

And I don't want to give the impression that I have been living in squalor, ok? An untidy house stresses me out. I did regularly do laundry and refresh the bed and wash the dishes and such, just... not all on the same day. I've gotten so used to doing 1 (one) task and then resting for hours until I have the juice to do another.

I gave myself an aspirational week's worth of Tasks and I got them all done before dinnertime. What the fuck. Was it The Vitamin all along (no, there are other things wrong with me, but holy shit I think it was in fact a severe vitamin deficiency also)

In their downtime the gikon tended to sprawl around camp in nothing but their own fur; tawny and muscular like lionesses at rest, if lionesses were bipedal and ten feet tall.

Stop it, stop it, stop it!” She swung a fist, a child's tantruming attempt to slam the side of it against whatever was closest. Obi-Wan's hand darted out to grab it before it made contact with Satine's torso. Bo-Katan jerked it out of his grip, glaring at Satine. “They're nice. They saved me. It's better here! They feed us good food, and let me play, and nobody ever hits me or locks me up in the dark or says I have to kill you to take Kalevala away. They're not like Kyr'tsad!”

…what is a door sill?

I presume this is in reference to the title of my fic 'across the doorsill where the two worlds touch'

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary [link]:

sill noun 1: a horizontal piece (such as a timber) that forms the lowest member or one of the lowest members of a framework or supporting structure: such as a: the horizontal member at the base of a window b: the threshold of a door

There are also other meanings for 'sill', but 1b is the meaning for door sill. The title phrase is from a poem by Rumi (quoted in the beginning note of the fic) that seemed very appropriate for a Sleeping Beauty/Terracotta Warrior AU.
