this is subject to change since there's still more issues to come, but the impression i get from Dark Crisis YJ so far is that the writer read like. MAYBE the first dozen issues of 90s YJ and then flipped through the rest of it, a few Flashfam comics from around then, a COUPLE Superboy issues, and then didn't even LOOK at the 90s Impulse solo. and it's lowkey infuriating but also i'm entirely unsurprised ahjsfdjhasdf

at this point this is the impression I get from way too many comic writers lol, the thing is that I LOVE exploring team dynamics so much but I understand that it would be a little harder to cover each and every scope of all the characters but like, thats kind of the point of being the writer? And u can only really encapsulate all the dynamics if u also understand the characters background too. 

that being said I think its a big thing in comics especially DC (considering thats the circle im more familiar with) that people often have very fixed views on characters and what they like from old issues but these views also vary more than we think between those who make up each characters fandom. Which is fair enough for when someone comes along and writes sht thats just entirely off mark, but I recognise can also be a bit restrictive for when ppl try new things with characters or advance in things plot wise. Now im not talking specifically about dark crises especially since its whole theme is “throwback”, but I do think its something that should be considered generally
