hello! thank you!! and yes, of course <3 to cover some basics: program: i use photoshop to create all my gifs. i do all my coloring there unless, in some rare cases, it's a super desaturated scene (e.g. ep 5 crossroads field scenes, or ep. 4 replacements market garden battle sequences) then i bump up some saturation on lightroom. but other than that everything is done on photoshop!
screencap/file type: i use dicom files. here's a really good tutorial on what that is and how you can capture the best screencaps for you gifs. i prefer dicom files bc of the ease and the file quality. i use the program mpv to capture my screencaps for full pixel/color preservation.
i really mostly learned from tutorials on tumblr. i hope you don't mind if i link them here instead of going over it at length. not trying to be flippant, just that those tutorials are a lot more fleshed out than what i can type out, and they taught me too. :) BUT! if there are any specific steps that get confusing feel free to DM me or send another ask. am happy to help. :) please check out the tutorials that have guided me under the cut!
