Tag game : BL soundtracks
This is my exact vibe and since I was tagged by @mewsthumbring I shall force the rest of you into the brainrot as well !
1 .The ITSAY soundtrack [ and ESPECIALLY Skyline ]
What can be said about the ITSAY soundtrack that hasnt already been said ?
This was the soundtrack that became the only thing any BL fan listened to for the rest of 2020 [ To give you some perspective ..Skyline was my most streamed song that year and Billkin was my most streamed artist for that AND the next year. In case you thought I was exaggerating ]
I remember watching the MV for Skyline and crying buckets as I read the lyric translation. I mean what can you do when the chorus is something as heartbreaking as :
What do you when they show you Teh running on a beach reaching out for a disappearing Oh aew singing that if they are set apart by destiny ..then he has no choice but to give up doesnt he ??? But he keeps asking it with increasing amounts of desperation as though hoping that at some point the world will give him a different answer. That the parallel tracks that him and Oh aew are on will break the rules of mathematical probability and converge at some point. That they will have one moment where they meet . And maybe in that moment they can find enough scaffolding to build a life together.
What can you do when you watch all that ,apart from cry your eyes out for the next 3 hours ?? 😭😭😭
There are very few times where one feels like a piece of art was made specifically for you, but the Skyline MV felt like a gift from the world to me when I first saw it. Like a secret it whispered into the wind so that I would know that hope springs eternal. That I would know not to give up just yet😭😭😭
Also PP's chinese version of Skyline is magnificent beyond belief as well. Cause of course it is 😢
2. Your name engraved herein by Crowd Lu
There is a line in this song that goes "Your silence is the kindest grace". There are nights even now , where I go to sleep thinking about the universe of meaning in that one line. Jia Han and Birdy's love story deserved nothing less than perfection and Crowd Lu delivered 😭😭
P.S Watch with the subtitles on cause this is one of the most beautifully written songs you'll ever come across
3.Ride home by Benxben for Gaya sa Pelikula
While the entire soundtrack from Gaya sa Pelikula was extraordinary.......Ride home has a special place in my heart.
Its the backdrop to possibly the best scene of the entire show. The scene where Karl actually accepts that he's queer and that he can actually for the first time in his life .....be himself . And this clip is just such a pure expression of queer joy! Karl dances like someone who is finally FINALLY free of the weight of everyone elses expectations. A boy who can dance the way he wants , be who wants , love who he wants and still knows that the world will remain intact on the other side. Its heartbreakingly beautiful and even today ..I cant watch it without crying. [ Also watch the clip if youre fine with basically spoiling GSP for yourself. Cause this is the best scene of the series. Hands down ]
4. Just friends ? : Bad buddy
I mean ..do we need to say anything about this ? [ also the song that launched a million ON ships. My god was it an insane time 🤭🤭 ]
5. Kahit Na Anong Sabihin Ng Iba by Seth Fedelin for Hello Stranger :
The cutest fking song for the cutest fking BL !! I think this was the most seamless ost i have ever seen in a BL cause even though they used it as the background music in a bunch of places while also using it as the theme song .....you never once get irritated by it ? it never feels overplayed ?
Which is a testament to how gorgeous and cute the song actually is.
P.S. if you liked this ...the leads of hello stranger [ Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara] did a pretty good cover of it as well . Highly recommend it !!
