There is no chair pose in yin yoga ! Utkatasana is a deep squat that is excellent for aligning the lower 3 chakras. It is a peak yoga pose where you are challenged to balance alignment, posture, agility and resistance. It is called the seat of power. It was poses like this that hurt my knees, ankles and all the bones in my feet to unbearable levels of pain. After years of athletics, dancing and injuries I now suffer from acute ankle fractures and chronic ankle instability. I had to find new ways to work out. When I found yin yoga 🧘🏽♀️ I found home. All of the yoga poses are on the floor making this practice the ideal for physical therapy, realignment and reset of the mind. Yin focuses on fascia, the deep connective tissue. The positions are held for 3 - 6 minutes each. Yin yoga is a wonderful way to release muscle tension, heal and rest.
