I mentioned in the end notes of the latest chapter of “The Bonds We Choose” to expect a surprise, and here it is! Although...I actually recommend NOT reading this until I post the last chapter of TBWC in early December since it spoils Otabek and Mila’s daughter’s name and birth date. While it can be read as a standalone one-shot, it is technically a sequel to TBWC. I’ve actually been planning this for a few months to serve as an epilogue of sorts for the “It’s Complicated” series, but when the prompts for @yoispookyweek were posted and I realized that it coincidentally fit Day 6’s themes of “graveyard” and “zombies”, I decided to finish the ficlet and post it much earlier than originally intended. (Sorry, it’s really not spooky at all, though!)

Summary:  Yuri says goodbye to his grandfather before he, Otabek, Mila, and their three-year-old daughter embark on a new life together in Almaty. (FF.net)

A Ghost of You

After a hiatus of over a year, I’m back to finish this fic. This chapter, and then an epilogue to wrap it all up.

The tattoo is black and white, an outline, until your soulmate touches you for the first time (after both of you have your tattoos). At their touch, the tattoo fills with color.

But, if your soulmate dies, the tattoo disappears.

Hunting For You

It is rhythmic, intoxicating and utterly indescribable in many ways.

The thrill of the hunt.

He is fast, faster than most and yet it isn’t a match.

Every sound is easy to track. Each sharp inhale of breath. The echoing sound of blood pumping around their body like a calling. They stumble and flinch, struggling to escape even if they both know, deep down, the ending is inevitable.

And then there’s the smell.

The dizzying deliciousness that made venom pool and feet hit the ground harder merely to find it’s source.

Otabek’s eyes tracked the figure through the dark, prowling on the outskirts of its peripherals and careful to remain soundless as he moved in. 

Closing in.

With a final push, shoving harshly and silently from his perch, he hit the figure, rolling as they tumbled and slammed into the ground with a grunt.
