He’s extremely unused to hearing things that aren’t extremely literal, so phrases like ‘two birds with one stone’ and 'we’ll cross the bridge when we get there’ are confusing and will illicit responses like “But we were not fighting birds? Why are you talking about birds?” and “Why is a bridge needed to get there? I thought it was all on land?”

the picture from the barn is of either stevens or gregs aunt and uncle!! they haven't actually appeared in the show themselves but they were 'introduced' in space race when pearl was trying to build the spaceship, greg showed them the barn filled with parts that used to be theirs!!
