@aeluned, continued from x
During the trial of Raleigh Samson, Eluned had been lurking in the background. Quietly fascinated by the man’s resistance to red lyrium. Was it the prolonged exposure and gradual increase in his doses that had allowed for him to resist? Was it like a poison, that if you like Bull did, poisoned yourself with smaller doses to gain immunity against larger amounts.
A mission later curiosity got the better of her. The fellow was rarely outside of Dagna and Harrit’s undercroft. Much to Harrit’s dismay. It was by pure chance, perhaps even luck, that she caught him walking across the walkway, that connected Skyhold’s main building, to the tower where Cullen had his office.
Being ever so nosy, and wanting to know things, she was picking up the pace. Hoping she’d get to him before he left. A few more swift winded steps, and wham, she had him. In a hug. But she had him nonetheless.
A sheepish grin covered her face, and just now realizing how silly this must look, not to mention what it would perhaps look to others. the oddest bit, Eluned was running her hands over him, patting him here and there. Then she slipped her arms from his torso, stepped back and stared at him with narrowing eyes. “…..How are you even still alive? I mean, the red lyrium, you don’t even have those red glowy bits protruding from your body” And Eluned, well she as trying to figure out how the red lyrium felt from a person like himself. Still with his mind intact, still a being, more than a thing.
The contact was awkward, leaving him with a fresh appetite for solitude. No nosy people prying into his business, trying to play nice and sympathetic (so what, if he went on a rampage here, he would not kill them?) and grossly ignorant of his own boundaries. In his opinion, three arms away was already uncomfortably close, let alone wrapping arms around him like this. A low, distasteful 'tch' came from his grit teeth, but the woman let go (lucky for her).
Of couse, those who did not come to tell him what a good man he once had been, expressing their pity for the way his life turned out... they wanted to know more about Corypheus and Lyrium. Often, he would tell everyone another story, and when they all exchanged their findings... no one would know the truth. "I never had pure red lyrium," he started. Lying came natural to him, and Kirkwall turned him into a man who lied as soon as he opened his mouth. "Red Lyrium mixed with a draught of crystal grace and distilled embrium." Not really, all it did was knock you out (and Maker knows, his healer had done that often enough, for his own best). If this woman was smart, she would not try to confirm that. "It negates the taint." Or something like that - Samson was not a man particularly interested in the science behind any of it, much unlike Dagna. All he cared about was... its effectiveness. Terrifying, and its effects even worse. Certain power, certain death, when would his time come?
