Most people think technology in school is a good thing. However, the Bri Bri people located in Yorkin, Costa Rica, do not have a positive relationship with cell phones and their children's' education. Since 2010, only one or two kids have graduated high school per year. Some community members think that the increase of technology in their indigenous community is causing children to lose interest in education -- and on a larger scale, Bri Bri culture.
Rebecca along with Diana Crandall are reporting on education, conservation and other important topics surrounding the Yorkin community in an upcoming project titled, “Indigenous Rights to Land and Livelihood.”
